I’m Australian and left 20 years ago. Born and raised there. I left mainly because it’s a centre of mediocrity. It’s a societal value and the tax system reflects it. If you want to excel and earn a lot be prepared to give half of your earnings to the government. Where I live now I pay a maximum of 15% as opposed to 50% at the top bracket. Australia is a great country and the passport is powerful, but if you want to stand out or succeed and ‘build wealth’ as they say, good luck. It’s better to take your good qualification obtained there and take the skill or knowledge where you will be rewarded for it more. Another thing is it’s culturally pretty empty, that’s why Australians tend to do well when they leave - they can adopt to another culture easily. I’ve lived in Asia and Africa and I found it fascinating and curious, maybe because home didn’t offer much. Finally, as you say, it’s at the end of the line - not just travel but opportunities. Few multinational companies have a HQ or major presence here. My thoughts.

Australia is a country for hard working jobs, meaning FIFO in resources industry = high income that will provide you a good lifestyle in general, but it all depends on what lifestyle you choose. Any other industry, like services or retails don't pay half enough to make a decent living. If you are skilled professional like a specialist Doctor, will also help you. Don't like snakes, don't go to the bush, don't like sharks, don't go to the ocean simple. Australia is such a great country, you have to leave for few years to realise what you miss.
@amaknusa92124 ай бұрын
For a start Australians do not work HARD, you need to see any public construction, that should take 6 months to complete takes 6 years, at triple the original cost, if you stop to take note of work proceedings you will now what I mean. Then if by chance you are one of those, that worked non stop until retiring age, then your hard worked earnings are what you will need to survive, whilst those that worked very little to nothing are paid full pensions and an array of benefits equaling another pension, then to top it off when the time arrives for aged care the government practically takes or controls all your assets. Australians are now emigrating, for several years now, at twice the rate of permanent settlers. What's the point of earning $1000/ week if it cost you $900 to survive, I would rather earn $300/week with a cost of $100, and have a more comfortable life to boot.That is unless you wish to live in an out back mining town earning $150,000/ year chasing spinifex in the desert in your spare time.
