Just a couple of notes: 1. yes, the reflections/ spirals off aren't good. They're caused by my lighting bouncing off of it, and I didn't know it until I started to edit and it was to late to reshoot. Sorry. 2. Wearing shirts for one location at another (e.g. a Universal shirt at Disney) isn't a problem. As long as it isn't obscene or offensive, it's fine. 3. When it comes to costumes, it's a simple rule: as long as you don't look like you could be the character, pretend to be the character, mistaken for the character, or exposing anything, you're probably ok. If you're still questioning, then assume the answer is no.

As for number 3: If you are unsure if youre dress or costume are okey - ALWAYS ask the staff. Send them an email or give them a phone call asking if youre kids dressing this or youreself dressing that way is okey. If you got an okey and a staff questioning you can always refer them to that okey. Johan.

With #2, I've dressed as an abstract Indiana Jones, and I've gotten smiles from Cast Members (this was in January) and we even cosplayed for a bit. I don't have people come up and ask for autographs, thank goodness. I was also able to dress up as Deadpool before the mask ban, though every now and then Cast Members asked me to simply pull down my mask from time to time. I wasn't ushered out of the park, just asked if I could show my face every here and there. [this was all at Disneyland, California]

The rocking got so bad that my coworker's husband looked up towards a camera and mouthed "help us." The ride was stopped and the teens were removed from the ride. My coworker later overheard some other teens that were part of the same group as the ones on "It's a Small World" saying that the boat rockers had been removed from the park.

Here a trick I use to quash line jumpers: I hold onto both handrails in a standard switchback queue, it may stop forward progress unless they go under the rails. The worst offenders are the "Fast Pass", "Flash Pass", or whatever they are called (pay to skip the line passes - NOT the accommodations for disabilities groups) in a given park as users of those tend to be abusive even when the pass is used up; I wish the parks either discontinue these or go to an all reservations type of queuing.

I loved your rant on cutting in line. I worked at Canobie Lake Park in Salem, NH and they had a policy called parent swapping. Some rides has a height restriction like "48 inches or with an adult". If a family had two children that were not tall enough but only one parent, the second child could wait at the exit of the ride and after the first ride the parent could ride again with the second child and not have to wait in line again. It was a great policy and saved the experience for alot of families and made it easier for us ride operators.

I'm fine with people doing the "cut line thing" if it's just one person or an adult with a young child. Say you've got a group of three or more people and one person needs to go to the bathroom and then gets back with their group that was still in line that's okay or if you've got a group of five or six people and one person has to take little Timmy to the bathroom because he's only six and really shouldn't be walking the park by himself. But other than that nope don't go for it. Hell my husband is handicapped and has a handicap pass which lets him go to the front of the lines and what we do as a family is me and my kids will wait through the line while my husband sits up at the front he won't get on the ride until we've actually waited through the line even though the handicap pass would let him cut the line.
@orlendatube7 жыл бұрын
I think a kid that needs to use the bathroom should always be excused for line jumping for sure! I also think the same for adults frankly as well-my mother has colitis and will need to use the bathroom with almost no warning-and it can happen at any random time. It would be horrible for her to be "penalized" by having to wait in line all over again just because of this medical issue....i mean-in all honesty, if she had to do that, she could literally end up waiting in lines and never reaching the ride all day...
@TitoTimTravels6 жыл бұрын
I have done parks for ages... generally when a group is in line and one person (especially with a kid) comes up to join them, no one really cares (if they are polite about it). But when one person is "holding" a space for 5 or 6? Forget it ha ha

I do this at Kennywood. They are AWESOME about this. I can ride The Racer, The Jack Rabbit, or the Thunderbolt (until my riding partner gets tired because you HAVE to have a partner for safety and I fully support it) AS MANY TIMES AS I WANT! AND I can SIT wherever I want. But ONLY if the lines are that bad on certain rides. Otherwise I just wait and watch the ride go and just get giddy with excitement and talk about how excited I am to just be going on it. If I DO get a line cutter, it really doesn't matter to me. We're all going on the same ride and I only get scared if they separate me from my father. MASSIVE NO NO. I GOT ASSAULTED BY A KAREN WHO SAW ME TRYING TO GET TO MY DAD. I *●GENTLY●* GUIDED THE KID TO THE SIDE BARELY EVEN TOUCHING THE KID AND I GOT VIILENTLY JERKED AND YANKED FORWARD AND BACKWARD BY MY RING RAFT. "DON'T YOU TOUCH MY KID! DON'T YOU TOUCH MY KID!" WILL FOREVER LIVE IN INFAMY IN MY HEAD. ANOTHER GIRL GRABBED MY BATHING SUIT STRAP AND PULLED ME BACKWARDS AT CRAFTON WATERPARK AND SAID *I'M GOING FIRST" DOWN THE WATERSLIDE. I remember seeing this restroom area through the Flight of Passage queue line in Animal Kingdom. I thought it was rather convenient to have this bathroom “checkpoint” place for those who can’t hold their bladders or something much longer, but they’re too scared to go back due to the long lines and potentially having to wait even longer. (Why wasn’t this at the new Tron Rollercoaster or Guardians of the Galaxy Rollercoaster? That would’ve been really convenient there too!)

Weapon story time! I carry a pocket knife with me daily, you never know when you'll need to cut something. yep- no autographs, no pretending to be Minnie, and they probably asked her to cool it on the photos some as well. If she's causing a distraction or drawing attention, Disney isn't going to like that, though they wouldn't have an issue with the outfit itself (that's kind of what Disney Bounding is)

Thank you so much for giving the exception for cutting in line. I was 12 years old and had a bathroom emergency right when my parents were in line for Toy Story Mania. It was early in the morning so you can imagine how the crowds were. I left the line by myself thinking that I could somehow get back in. I wasn’t really thinking because I was young and really had to go. I come back and I decided instead of cutting to ask a cast member if I could get back in line. She said I couldn’t, but decided to get me in through the fast past entrance and told me to wait at the merge point. I however didn’t have any cell service in the building so my parents had no idea where I was and of course started to panic. I waited at the merge point for 55 minutes before I saw my parents. It was awful. A cast member eventually had to give me her phone to try and call my parents. It is probably my least favorite memory at Walt Disney World.

One way we got a group kicked out of the park - we were in line for CGA's Gold Striker opening day. The group of us got in the full queue in the afternoon after I had gotten off work and as we were on the final stretch of the queue almost 90 minutes later, we had a mob of guests start trickling in to meet their friends who were at the station. It wasn't just 1 or 2 people, but what seemed like their entire family. Some got physical and shoved their way through when we ignored their requests, some threatened when we didn't budge. We just happened to catch a supervisor coming down the Fast Lane steps adjacent to us who was able to radio security. We then saw the guests board when we thought it was too late. That was until we realized they were holding the train until security showed up rather quick. They were kindly shown and walked to the exit of the park and denied of their ride. We heard several cheers in the station meaning we weren't the only ones who had issues with them :)

Hey there. For your last way a guest would get kicked out of a park, I've seen ride operators stop a train on the lift hill. When I was in line for The Voyage at Holiday World for my second ride, they stopped the chain about halfway up the lift hill because someone took their phone out on the ride. It was nice to know that the ride's anti-rollback device worked perfectly, but it took me some more time before I got on it. I complimented the ride operator for doing the right thing and she was nice enough to say thanks and talk for a bit before I rode The Voyage in the front row.

I worked for my local theme park. We used to have issues with phones. I even saw a phone go flying out of a roller coaster car once. Hit the ground pretty hard. But there was one ride that always had to remind people to put phones away. It was this big swing ride that took people way up above the ground. The ride operator always made it clear that they were gonna personally kick you off if they saw your phone. Did people listen? No, not always. Once every other day when I was in the area somebody was having the ride stopped because of a phone. Just don't do it, people.

For #9: I was riding Magnum XL-200 at Cedar Point and some guy sitting in front of me apparently forgot his phone in the pocket of his basketball shorts. On one of the smaller airtime hills on the way back, the phone flew out of his pocket towards me. I had to dodge it. I almost wish I would've caught it so I could give it back to him, but I didn't think fast enough and probably wouldn't have been able to catch it anyway. I felt bad for him since he wasn't filming or anything, but then again there are signs instructing guests to leave loose articles on the ride platform, in a locker or with a non-rider, so he kinda had it coming to him, especially since he was wearing flimsy basketball shorts.

Also make sure to read the signs for limitations. If it says to remain seated do it. I had someone on a log ride once that was standing up and splashing which are both bad moves. Putting your hand in the water with a fiberglass boat that weighs 500 pounds before you and your family get in can quickly end up getting you a new nickname of "Stumpy." In most parks not following the posted rules or verbal directions or recorded announcements can equal your removal from the park. And if the park happens to be one that has alcohol sales available DO NOT GET DRUNK. One or two beers over a few hours fine, if you are sloshed the ride operators will make a phone call to have security come over and deal with it. And be decent to the ride operators, where I worked it was often over 100 degrees and we are in the heat all day too. We have a lot of rules to follow to keep you safe and try and make sure your day is fun but we often work ALL DAY. We may rotate positions but I have days where the entire twelve hour shift was on a ride I didn't like to operate. I should also add DON'T show up to the park drunk either. It should be a given but some people have to get that way to deal with the kids. It may end up with a ride to jail and a whole host of other issues if you brought kids along without another adult, especially if you drove.

For the most part, I use a Sony video camera on the slow rides and Disneyland, and Thunder Mountain Railroad. Cast members don't take my camera away, though. Obviously I can't film the Haunted Mansion all that well, because my camera doesn't have night vision.

I’ve been a ride operator at fiesta Texas for a while now. It’s frustrating how people don’t understand why they can’t take their phone or other loose articles with. The articles we just don’t want to go pick up every night. But the phones literally can be flying projectiles and they don’t understand it. It can either hit a guest or hit a safety sensor and E-stop itself.

Hello George: What do you think about the single rider lines, I had witnessed a couple of times at R&R coaster @ HS people get mad as hell because they stood there & got separated? yep things that make me go hummm. I sincerely admire anyone who works with the public; they got my most respect specially being able to keep smiling. Have a great New Year and Merry Christmas to you and your family!
@SirWillow6 жыл бұрын
We'll use the single rider lines sometimes, depending on the ride, mood, and wait time. So we like them. But yes, part of the deal is that you are almost surely going to get split up, even if only 2 of you, and especially if there are more of you. Never understood people who got upset over that when it's made very clear that's going to happen when they get in line, but there's always some...

I remember when I went to Alton Towers in the north of England at oblivion (which was the worlds first dive coaster) and it was the car right before our one. We got in our car waiting for the other one to drop so we could go. Turned out they stopped the car right at the top of the lift hill because somebody had their phone out, it was right at the part where the car was facing down and they stayed there for ten minutes. I’m so lucky I had to wait in line a bit longer instead of be on the car with that idiot.

Charl77 I have to reply to this comment! Sure it happens all the time but I was once also on Oblivion and we were stopped at the top at the the drop as someone had their phone out in the row behind me. A worker came up and told him off and to put it away. Took a long time for the worker to climb up and down all those steps (understandably, it's a big climb!) so we were sat facing down for a good 10/15 minutes. And it was freezing cold and windy that day. Then they dropped us without warning. Made a good ride photo at least!

If it’s something that isn’t automatically seen as a weapon odds are you’re able to bring it in parks - Odds are most people bring in pencils/pens/paper to certain parks if they want autographs, and clench their hands on some scarier rides, and while literally anything can be turned into a weapon... It requires people to actually use their brain when it’s not something that requires you to simply pull a trigger or pull out a blade, and the brain is something far too many people don’t know how to use these days...😅 *Stops walking in a crowded, bustling area to finish typing a comment and take a selfie while riding Tower Of Terror*

Once on California Screaming right at the top of the first hill the person in front of me let go of a metal water thermos that fell on the tracks in front of the cars. Look man, I’ve been to Disney. A LOT. When we had to use the restroom or something while waiting in line and our party was broken up, every time, a cast member would let us go through the fast pass line or something to catch up. People cut in lines at Disney ALL the time, they really are not strict about it at all.

14:04 I don't know. If its a small family like 2-3 I don't care. Makes no real difference. But when 1 person is proxy for for like 10 people, that's annoying. But still, I'm not sure it happens enough to be a big concern. I see it maybe 1 in 30 lines I've waited in.

People who cut in line seem to think that because they paid so much, they can cut despite the fact that PRETTY MUCH EVERYONE PAID THE SAME YOU DID and those that didn't (aka someone with MAKE A FREAKING WISH) then they deserve it waaaay more. Also selfie sticks+rides seems like a real easy way to lose your phone. Your selfie stick you got at your cousins graduation for free vs a steel beam on a roller coaster the winner will (not) shock you!

Life was a llittle easier in the 70's. I was a RiverBoat Spieler at Six Flags Over Texas. We had the occasional rude guest, but at least we didn't have to deal with millions of cell phones.
@christophercole8114 Жыл бұрын
I just saw this and, as a former ride operator at a regional Six Flags park, there are a couple more I would definitely add. 1) Listen to the instructions when the operators/attendants are doing their spiel. I operated a river rapids ride mostly and one of the things we'd have to say is "Keep your arms and legs inside the raft at all times, and hold onto the center ring, and don't unbuckle the safety belt." One idiot decided to ignore all of that and stood up mid ride. I was team leading the ride at the time and out at one of the observation positions. I immediately called to the main operator booth, gave the boat number and description after giving him a verbal warning. He was kicked off the ride the rest of the day, not sure if he was kicked out of the park. 2) Listening to the instructions also applies to before getting on the ride. We had a policy of no smoking or alcohol in the lines, but this lady insisted on taking her beer in line with her. When she got up to the front and I noticed it I told her she either had to dump it, or give it to someone who was not riding, or exit the line and drink it and return. I was even nice and offered her an exit pass for the 2nd and 3rd options. She refused all them saying she'd just set it off to the side, ride, and get it when she came back. I told her that if she did that I was going to dump it. But she set it to the side, rode, and came back to an empty beer mug because I dumped it out. She was mad at me saying she spent $9 on the beer (most of that was for the mug), but I reminded her that I gave her three options, she took none of them, and I followed through on what I said I would. She demanded to talk to security and I gladly called them up who promptly escorted her off the ride.

My boyfriend works security at WDW and I get story time almost every night about some..er..most of the points you brought up here. Another good point would be to NOT STAND IN THE MIDDLE OF A WALKWAY. I know amusement parks are pretty and magical, but would it kill you to take 2 steps to the left/right, out of the path of walking traffic, and take your picture there? The parks are quite large, yes, but it's not so large when you've got between 45K and 75K people in the park at once. Those walkways feel real tiny, real quick.

@SirWillow6 жыл бұрын
Depends on the park and the ride. There are very few that allow recording on roller coasters and thrill rides. And honestly, I'll bet that will change when they have a guest get hit by a flying phone or camera, which I've seen up close and personal. It's not pretty. Family rides and dark rides usually aren't an issue (but it is still a good idea to get permission from the park first) but I won't do it on a coaster. Unless it's one of those rare times when I would get to work with their PR team, who can arrange to have brackets brought out to lock the camera down onto the coaster, which is how they film during media days, pr footage, etc. But I don't ever expect a park to do that for me.

I'm reminded of a few incidents in particular (most when I was a cast member, one after my internship when I was a guest). When I was working at WDW, there was one time when a guest ACTUALLY pulled out a full-sized tripod to try and film inside Stitch's Great Escape. That was one of two times I had to e-stop the ride and have someone escorted out by security. The second time, it was after I had told a guest (twice) that his son had to sit in his own seat for the attraction, as it was a safety hazard for him to be sitting in his lap. This man (who had to be nearly six feet tall), got up out of his seat to deliberately try to intimidate me with his size (I'm a petite 5'1") and scream at me. Yeah, that was a rather spectacular removal from the ride, though I am also happy to say that there were several other guests who looked like they were ready to jump to my defense, even after I e-stopped the attraction. The last, happier incident I thought of was during Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party, when I went as a guest. I was dressed as American McGee's Alice (a very, VERY dark video game, but I didn't bring any of the character's deadly props and was wearing one of her less gruesome outfits), but I saw some other guests dressed, rather accurately, as the three blondes from Beauty and the Beast. They were there all night, despite the accuracy of their costumes (I'm assuming because these characters are not as well-known and also don't have presence in the park), and even saw that they got a picture WITH Gaston. It was, to say the least, quite magical.

One time this crazy guest (and I was a guest to) was in the back of a log flume on splash mountain. We were on that slightly large hill towards the beginning of the ride. I am glad I had enough money for tickets at the park gate, Then had a wonderful time contacting the local authorities. Sadly there are loopholes with corrupted stands like that.
