I consider it research. There are always hidden costs to owning a console machine. Knowing before you buy that you definitely need a pro controller and a dock sock and so on, is super useful. Also, this guy makes it entertaining, so there's a plus. "If you happen to have a USB-C to USB-C cable, your switch can charge your Macbook. But don't do this, because that's real dumb."

Just FYI for everyone. The switch uses an LCD display. A dark theme on an LCD display will actually use more energy than a light theme. LCD's are lit via a backlight which the LCD needs to block out in order to display black/dark colors. Using a dark mode on an LCD means that more pixels need to be activated in order to block out the backlight, thus increasing energy usage. Dark themes are most beneficial for OLED displays where each pixel will emit its own light. When each pixel is emitting light rather than a backlight, then a dark mode will reduce the number of pixels emitting light, and thus reduce energy usage. Some fancy HDR LCD TVs have many positional backlights that they dim for dark regions of the picture which theoretically may reduce energy usage, but I highly doubt the switch does this. If you want to save battery on your switch, don't use dark mode. Just decrease the brightness of the screen (backlight). Update: The new OLED Switch’s battery life should benefit from using dark mode!

To anyone that wants to buy their games digitally, that's all fine and dandy. Just know if you do that, you don't actually own the game. All you have done is purchased the right to download and play the game. If something happens to your switch or if you break or loose your SD card, you lose your games. Not a huge problem right now as you can re download them, but someday Nintendo will no longer support the Switch and shut down the servers. When that happens you will no longer have access to your games. For me personally, one of the best experiences of a new game is holding it in my hand, looking at the artwork on the box, ripping off the plastic and opening it. Can't beat that new game smell. Maybe that doesn't matter much to everyone, especially the younger generation. But I'm old school. For those reasons, I will not purchase digital games.

Nintendo just doesn't get that people actually prefer digfital sometimes (for some people). I intentionally don't buy physical games on my PS4 or Xbox One, and previously on my 360 and of course, the PC. Anyways, I won't be BUying a single digital game on the switch because not since the Gamecube (arguably the Wii could be included in that just hacking it is just so easy and allows one to play Wii, Gamecube, and any emulators that can run on it, which is basically making it one of the more versatile consoles out there. Tge 3DS as well as the DS and GBVA and GB all were unbelievable simple and allowed anyone with a search engine to figure out how to do it. Nintendo has history of just making their consoles super easy to hack. and the lack of good online support, which is really the only reason people don't try t his as often with their XB1 or PS4 console it would be detected by their online services. Personally I just don't see nay value in upgrading the firmware (at least once most bugs get worked out, but weaknesses will most liekly be easy to exploit since Nintendo are terrible at building a console that actually allows modding and prevenb ts them from making profits. If they weren't so picky about what developers can put on their consoles. For a company that has amazing first party games but little in the way of third party with many indie games being cheaper and better looking on other consoles and PC. Nintendo is becoming the next Sega, one day it will be a software company. To the point about digital games in particular, for the switch I totally agree b/c there will most likely be a point where you will be able to download and transfer them to your MicroSD, so still digital, but then sell the physical game you own, b/c its basically a waste of space. To top it off Ni ntendo Wii U has alrady been emulated with Zelda BotW running at 4K 60fps XD, which puts the switch to shame. I think I'll sell mine until some better games come out, at which point they sghould be easier to find a switch cheaper, and then just play games at better qiality than their newest console, it's disgraceful.

I realize this video is nearly 2 years old... but as a mom I want to point out that the rancid flavor of the game cartridges is a safety precaution that’s there on purpose to discourage little kids from eating one. Small kids put EVERYTHING in their mouths. The bad taste encourages them to spit it out. Do what you can to keep the game cartridges out of the reach of little ones in the first place, but it’s good back up protection. Thank you Nintendo!

The dark theme won't save any battery. LCD screens use the same amount of power to display a completely white screen as a completely black screen. You might be thinking of OLED displays. Even then the black theme wouldn't save power since the theme is dark grey and only true black pixels save power in OLED displays since the black pixels are not powered.

When you buy a game digitally, you're buying the right to download and play the game rather than the game itself. This means this right can be revoked in the future. If you delete the game and its later removed from the marketplace, you can no longer download and play that game. Its gone forever. I just wanted to mention that the joycon straps have a little white tab near where the actual straps are. Just flip that down and they slip right off, that’s why it’s easy to push the little things in when you were talking about how to get them off, that’s because they are attached to the little white tab... it gets locked on there SO IT DOESNT FLY OFF WHILE YOU ARE PLAYING. if you read this, I hope it improves YOUR switch experience.

If you're gonna get a portable power bank you're gonna want to get the PD USB Type C RAVPower 26800mAh Power Bank. Since it supports PD same as the switch and has a type C input you can get a charge as fast as having it in the wall charger if you use a type c to c cable. Other portable power banks especially ones without a type c input won't charge it very fast.

If you need more than 128 GB it's probably cheaper to buy multiple 128 GB sd cards. 200 GB and 256 GB are so expensive! I wonder when we will see 2 TB cards that Nintendo promises the Switch will support. It would probably be super expensive though...

I have been keeping my switch digital and physical console in terms of games, I like the convenience of digital games however I can often get games a LOT cheaper as physical copies, generally no sales or drop in prices digitally but there’s always physical sales on games and 2nd hand games that work perfectly fine etc, means I save money which in turn means I buy more games 😁

Just a quick note on dark mode on the switch It DOES NOT save on battery for any of you wondering cuz it’s an LED where all pixels are emoting a color/light for say and unlike OLED displays which turn off individual pixels when displaying the color black for example.

OK people I got a switch case hack. this is for the people who think that the price of the real case is highway robbery. OK. to start out get a big piece of cloth (at least 3 times as big as the switch WITH the joy cons). place the switch onto a corner and outline it with a maker. do that once more right above your current outline. cut both of the outlines (together) and fold it over the switch. if the size is correct, here is the next step. make another outline of your switch, put the fabric over your switch on one of the halves of the past fold. glue the 3rd fabric square and you have a pocket to hold your switch. just use some strong tape to be able to seal the fabric case, and you have made your own switch case! this is just a hack I came up with when I found out the price for the case. I hope you random people looking in the comments enjoy the fabric case for your switch that is very easy to make!

The cases on the physical games, are incredibly awesome with the graphics and all ...just having a hard time letting go.. Any game share pros, with buying digital?
@FireCape4u7 жыл бұрын
You cant game share on switch. Also, its better to buy games physically than to rent games digitally, so keep doing what you're doing.
@LeadSails7 жыл бұрын
Magical Constructs hmm debatable indeed. Game share and pay $40 for game, or go hard copy and pay $80 for game. It adds up especially when you have like 70 games for Xbox One like myself. I probably saved $2800 by going digital. If I had hard copies of all those games trading them in would probably only get me like $1 to $5 per game. We'll see how it is with the Switch, hopefully they make a proper account system soon so that you can game share.
@FireCape4u7 жыл бұрын
George Khoshaba you can call it debatable, but its really opinion. If you dont have someone to game share with, its cheaper to go physical. Digital games hold $60 price tags long after theyre down to $20 physical. Also, you can get a lot better discounts physical. A new game physical is $48 as opposed to $60 at best buy. But ig if you have someone to game share with, you only have to buy every other game ig. It all depends on each persons situation and personal preference.
