Him taking an antipyschotic has nothing to do with him being dangerous. People who suffer from psychosis (which means the sufferer is out of touch with reality) are, like most people that suffer from mental illness, much more likely to be the victims of crimes than being the perpetrator. He shouldn't have been left alone with a drug addicted convict.

I agree. I’m guessing any intervention by the family courts ceased well before this holiday. Given the serious nature of the crime her mother went to prison for, as well as her drug use, the interactions between the mother and child should have been monitored for longer as a condition to the change of legal guardianship. I know we say it with the benefit of hindsight, but it is clear that staying at her mother’s residence overnight was not in the interest of the child’s well-being. Very sad.

Why is the mother allowed to walk free? She allowed a grown man that she was dating to take her nine-year-old daughter overnight by herself. Why?? Honestly, I think the mother allowed her daughter to go with him to forbid the night with him and his family, because she was engaged to him and pregnant with his child, so she wanted him and her daughter to bond in a parent/child relationship since he was basically going to be her step-father. However, since the mother was a drug addict, she didn't use rational thinking to consider how potentially dangerous it could be to leave her small child alone with a convicted killer who supposedly takes antipsychotics while high on meth.

This is why we have Caylee’s Law in Florida (after Casey Anthony failed to report her daughter Caylee missing for over a month… bc obviously, she killed her). This law is used to prosecute parents who fail to report their children missing. They need to have it everywhere. Calista wasn’t a mother, any more than Casey Anthony. She just gave birth. She didn’t earn the title. She violated a sacrosanct position of trust. Charlize’s REAL mother is her grandmother, who only allowed her to be with her birth giver for the child’s sake and never knew what monsters were capable of doing. Her boyfriend probably asked her to request to have Charlize for the holiday. He had child porn in his possession at the time. He likely drugged her with Seroquel to incapacitate her so he could hurt her. Calista admitted she became psychotic when rejected by lovers. She wouldn’t have denied him anything to keep him, all he had to do was threaten to leave her.

Her crocodile tears and lack of care for the child made me sick and how she made everything about herself. I think she should have been charged as well bcos she didn't care for the child. Drugs and the boyfriend came first. No one let's a child goes off with someone they barely know. The grandparents should never have let her have visitation without supervision especially with her history. Sadly the child paid the price of her mother's lack of care. RIP little one ❤

Well there are plenty of cases where the biological father was the one who couldn't be trusted with the kids. And cases where the mothers knew e.g. the Menendez brothers. There was that bizarre case of the girl who was adopted out as a baby but eventually reconnected with her bio father as an 18yr old, and they wound up getting married! And having a baby! 😮 Before he killed her and himself (Steven Plaidl I think). He couldn't be trusted around his bio daughter - or his baby bio daughter/bio granddaughter! Remember the Wurtzl family case? The father had several children/grandchildren with his own bio daughter. Then there's the likes of Chris Watts. Loving dad on FB, who could clearly be trusted around his own children!

It was the right decision for me because I actively brought my boys into the world and I did not want them to have to deal with an antagonistic relationship in their home and I knew that you never really know someone and no one was touching, hurting or being mean. Or abusing my boys... I knew that I could not live with myself, if I let it happen..

A perfect marriage or relationship is an illusion; there's no universal playbook for making them work. What's effective for one couple may not apply to another. Nevertheless, I've come to understand that there's always a solution to be found. Half a decade ago, my wife and I faced such trials in our marriage that divorce seemed inevitable. Yet, through perseverance and determination, we navigated through the rough waters and emerged stronger, reunited, and more resilient.

Justin got everything he ever wanted. He even called his mother from Jail to go into the forest behind the house to get the guns that he had stashed out in the woods. I heard the call on the 60 minutes Australia story. So his mother and father were the kind that did what ever he wanted with no consequences. He gave the girl a huge dose of Quetiapine which would have tranquilized her but for some reason she didn't fall asleep or she woke up during a sexual assault and ran out the back door he went in the woods after her with both of the rifles and shot her with the .22 first in the hip which would have been extremely painful even for her drug addled body then she probably started screaming from the pain of the bullet wound in a big bone of her hip and he got up close range and fired the face shot up close and personal. Probably mad because she had foiled his plan to SA her. That is what I believed happened to her. Eternal Rest Grant Unto her oh Lord and let perpetual light shine upon her and may she rest in peace, Amen.

@@Enigma8750 Lack of boundaries and enforcement of appropriate rules, and lack of regard for the law and for consequences for others and for himself. Spoiled but it would seem he had somewhat absentee parents. And it's far easier to get away with stuff, doing drugs or whatever when your parents are away a lot (business trips, or personal vacations abroad for long periods of time, the way the wealthy do, called away on business etc. Also living in a great big mansion with a lot of rooms makes it a lot easier. If you grow up in a tiny apartment with one bathroom, with parents and a lot of siblings for example, there's hardly any privacy for anyone, kids will be sharing a small room together etc.

Well I suppose that's why the mother allowed it. Mind you she's the woman who's done time for running over a person with her car, and who makes runs into Sydney to buy meth and do drugs with her fellow drug user ex-convict bf (not that his being an ex-convict necessarily means he's a really bad person, or hasn't reformed, or that he's dangerous as plenty of people have gone to prison who are not violent). And why wouldn't the girl be comfortable with that guy? I mean she's spending time in the care of a mother who's a meth user who went to prison for killing a person with her driving. I mean that guy is just normal to the girl - feels just like home.

@@creatureslim I've seen alarmingly large quantities of it be prescribed for sleep. It's harder to get a prescription for zopiclone.

Seems like he was molesting the innocent little girl and she was trying to run away, maybe after being assaulted. That’s why he wanted her alone with the excuse of a dog to begin with. The mother is equally guilty for putting her in danger of sexual assault and for the murder. Sad for the child.

Three years for vehicular homicide speaks to the worldwide issue we have in the justics system. There's not much deterrent to murder, much less crime in general.

6:20 given Seroquel and shot by a 22??? Many governments don't even allow hunting deer with a 22 because it is inhumane. This is awful
