I agree. I’m guessing any intervention by the family courts ceased well before this holiday. Given the serious nature of the crime her mother went to prison for, as well as her drug use, the interactions between the mother and child should have been monitored for longer as a condition to the change of legal guardianship. I know we say it with the benefit of hindsight, but it is clear that staying at her mother’s residence overnight was not in the interest of the child’s well-being. Very sad.

However, since the mother was a drug addict, she didn't use rational thinking to consider how potentially dangerous it could be to leave her small child alone with a convicted killer who supposedly takes antipsychotics while high on meth.

This is why we have Caylee’s Law in Florida (after Casey Anthony failed to report her daughter Caylee missing for over a month… bc obviously, she killed her). This law is used to prosecute parents who fail to report their children missing. They need to have it everywhere. Calista wasn’t a mother, any more than Casey Anthony. She just gave birth. She didn’t earn the title. She violated a sacrosanct position of trust. Charlize’s REAL mother is her grandmother, who only allowed her to be with her birth giver for the child’s sake and never knew what monsters were capable of doing. Her boyfriend probably asked her to request to have Charlize for the holiday. He had child porn in his possession at the time. He likely drugged her with Seroquel to incapacitate her so he could hurt her. Calista admitted she became psychotic when rejected by lovers. She wouldn’t have denied him anything to keep him, all he had to do was threaten to leave her.

And having a baby! 😮 Before he killed her and himself (Steven Plaidl I think). He couldn't be trusted around his bio daughter - or his baby bio daughter/bio granddaughter! A perfect marriage or relationship is an illusion; there's no universal playbook for making them work. What's effective for one couple may not apply to another. Nevertheless, I've come to understand that there's always a solution to be found. Half a decade ago, my wife and I faced such trials in our marriage that divorce seemed inevitable. Yet, through perseverance and determination, we navigated through the rough waters and emerged stronger, reunited, and more resilient.

Justin got everything he ever wanted. He even called his mother from Jail to go into the forest behind the house to get the guns that he had stashed out in the woods. I heard the call on the 60 minutes Australia story. So his mother and father were the kind that did what ever he wanted with no consequences. He gave the girl a huge dose of Quetiapine which would have tranquilized her but for some reason she didn't fall asleep or she woke up during a sexual assault and ran out the back door he went in the woods after her with both of the rifles and shot her with the .22 first in the hip which would have been extremely painful even for her drug addled body then she probably started screaming from the pain of the bullet wound in a big bone of her hip and he got up close range and fired the face shot up close and personal. Probably mad because she had foiled his plan to SA her. That is what I believed happened to her. Eternal Rest Grant Unto her oh Lord and let perpetual light shine upon her and may she rest in peace, Amen.

@@Enigma8750 Lack of boundaries and enforcement of appropriate rules, and lack of regard for the law and for consequences for others and for himself. Spoiled but it would seem he had somewhat absentee parents. And it's far easier to get away with stuff, doing drugs or whatever when your parents are away a lot (business trips, or personal vacations abroad for long periods of time, the way the wealthy do, called away on business etc. Also living in a great big mansion with a lot of rooms makes it a lot easier. If you grow up in a tiny apartment with one bathroom, with parents and a lot of siblings for example, there's hardly any privacy for anyone, kids will be sharing a small room together etc.

Well I suppose that's why the mother allowed it. Mind you she's the woman who's done time for running over a person with her car, and who makes runs into Sydney to buy meth and do drugs with her fellow drug user ex-convict bf (not that his being an ex-convict necessarily means he's a really bad person, or hasn't reformed, or that he's dangerous as plenty of people have gone to prison who are not violent). And why wouldn't the girl be comfortable with that guy? I mean she's spending time in the care of a mother who's a meth user who went to prison for killing a person with her driving. I mean that guy is just normal to the girl - feels just like home.

The grandparents named their daughter Calista - I am guessing that they chose that highly unusual name because of actress Calista Flockhart. It certainly wasn't a name anyone was giviing to their kids in Australia back then. Tje granddaughter als o has a highly unusual name. It has to be inspired by the actress Charlize Theron. I know of no other Charlize and it too was an unheard-of name in Australia and the U.S. until Theron became famous. It all seems a little bit strange.

@@SY-ok2dq I met a girl the other day that was named after the actress in Good Will Hunting . We got the idea for our daughters name from a singer who was on the TV.
