9-year-old's heroic act saves parents after Oklahoma tornado

Wayne and Lindy Baker, along with their 9-year-old son, Branson, were headed to Dickson, Oklahoma, just north of Marietta, to seek shelter, when a tornado suddenly picked up their truck and tossed it.

Poor kid didn't know if he would reach help in time to save his parents. That's a lot of pressure on a kid. But, he didn't give up and try to stay and comfortthem. He's definitely a hero.

I have had a broken neck. I had to have the bone replaced. I am praying for the family. I can't say the recovery was "complete" I did work after as a teacher. But construction might be a bit much. There is still a lot of pain there are tendons and muscles involved as well. I hope someone gets them a go fund me or something sound like they will need a long recovery.

Both watching this tornado unfold on radar, and witnessing the damage with my own two eyes; it is a miracle these people survived in their vehicle. Going to the town itself revealed horrific damage, with trucks or cars entirely pancaked or squished. Thank the lord for this little hero, I have great respect for him and the community of Marietta. This is exactly why we need more storm shelters, they save lives, prevent vehicle deaths, and can hold a community together. Well wishes from Texas, gotta keep our northern friends safe too.

I hope people are supporting him after such a traumatizing event. He saved his parents by getting help, but those ten minutes sound like they were very long and terrifying. Even just having to dodge lightning while it's the only light you can see by is terrifying in and of itself, much less if you've just been through a car accident and a tornado and both your parents are hurt and there are no other adults to help you. Someone should help him work through all the feelings he probably has about that event. Trauma endured during childhood can affect someone's physical health for their entire life, as well as their life expectancy.

I can’t imagine a little kid doing that, God bless him and helping him to overcome the trauma❤️. I had to go look for help in the middle of the dark in a freeway in México when we got in a car accident and I was already 21. It was a traumatic event. I still don’t like and avoid doing trips during the night and it’s been 13 years already.
