Very nice analysis. I think one of the challenges that Indian foreign policy faces is our relationships in the neighborhood are growing partisan. Except Srilanka there isn't cross partisan consensus about a nation's relationship with the India.

Why india demands UNSC seat even though it will never be using it because our foreign policy is such that india will always abstain from voting against any side so it makes no sense and more than that west is ready only china is blocking. But the real problem lies in India's internal matters governance is totally moulded into party agenda, intolerance is at highest level in India of today

Sure some work has been done but to say that , he and his diplomatic work has been unprecedented is a bit over stating ! India has always been a leading voice of disarmament, the Non aligned movement, CHOGM , SAARC , etc have been done long before . India has been on lead always on peace keeping missions . If you take a stroll in Washington you will see it in the war memorials there . India undertook evacuations before too on massive scale . We always helped our neighbours like srilanka . On China I think the jury is still out .

We don't see any changes .our visa not so powerful,our economy not so progressing,our fuel prices still increasing,our people still being treated badly because of bad foreign policies, our environment problems still not dealt with, investment done more on foreign places instead of our country, etc ......Overall it's been a good image from outside but total rot from inside.
