They are at pinkgrrl's house watching some highly rated cult movie and she is constantly explaining every scene in crutial detail, talking about the making of of the film and explaining every shot of the movie to yellowwdud. how do you choose your colors? is there a particular thought process behind it? it looks so random but works so well

Well for the darkest and lightest points they’re just offwhite and black. But talking about the skin yeah it’s not random it’s just following where I would assume the light would be coming from and having each of their skin tones tint to their associated color e.g. pink and amber. I originally wanted Roxy’s (left girl) skin highlights to share a color with the shadow of Dirk’s (right guy) skin for harmony between the two (especially since I had an idea of organically gradienting the skin to go along with the background). But in the end I changed her highlights to a cooler pink instead because the previous was unappealing, you can see me undo and change it in the video. But other than the tinting, I’m just coloring the skin how I normally would. My light source here would have been a somewhat overhead, mostly white but with some reflected blue light from their lefts for extra dimension. Both the black & whites are abstracted so it’s just for appeal without crowding the image and the bed sheets just continue the color gradient again
