Wait, misplaced priorities? I know a lot of people who had flashy homes and cars and then in 2007/08 they were in foreclosure. I have expensive shoes and a condo. I drive a 2007 FJ cruiser but my hubs and I are wealthy. My hubs is a 2 figure millionaire and I met him in a shitty studio and driving a beat up car. She def is with him bc of his resume. She noticed his luggage, his watch, & mentioned his job and what he should make. There’s tons of real estate ppl who make nothing. If I had a home paid off why would I buy a bigger home. When I moved to the states, my husband's financial situation wasn't great, because he was unfortunately just laid off like a month before i got here. So it was a very hard and frustrating time bc I wasn't legally allowed to work and contribute for like a year. And considering I had a very successful job in my country and was doing really well for myself it was difficult. And on top of that you don't have friends and family to support you. Let's not act like being financially stable is not important. Especially since as a K1 visa fiance you are 100% dependent on your spouse for at least a year. The main cause of arguments in couples is about money and in the US no one wants to talk about it. Money is important especially when you don't have enough. If I was her age when I first came here I would have been hell no... I am putting my ass back on a plane and going home..living with mold is not acceptable since it can cause serious health issues. It's about being comfortable in a clean safe space.

IMO Bilal went too far with the house. Shaeeda moved thousands of miles, left family, and friends, even though she is in love, why would she want to do that and only move to a lower level or the same level of where she was? Maybe if she was very young and she still saw life in an idealistic way or if she was immature and still felt life only needed love then moving down would be alright. When you are very young 2 people in love can build their life from scratch together. She isn't very young or immature so she lives with the big picture in mind, not just starting out. I'm not wealthy and I live in a very small, cheap place, but I put a little effort into making it look decent. I think she's reacting more to how run down and unmaintained the house looks rather than how cheap it is. The paint is peeling, the siding of the house is falling off, the ceilings are caved... If Bilal is indeed so well off as a result of real estate ventures and flipping houses, why is his beloved family home in need of so many repairs???? A modest home is one thing: sagging ceilings and a rotting foundation is something *COMPLETELY* different. Shaeeda is not a gold digger. She is blunt. And I can only imagine what she will say about this "trick." In answer to your question, I do believe true love is more precious than wealth. However, true love doesn't involve playing games and testing one's devotion, imho.

That house is still in the family for a reason, so why isn't it worth investing in its upkeep? Maybe others in the family can pitch in. Perhaps he needs a financial advisor, or to reconsider his lavish spending. Or both.

He has an internet persona of someone wealthy and then plays a trick on Shaeeda by scooping her up in the van and taking her to his childhood home to "test her loyalty"? I would've been put off by it too. She's probably worried that he was the type of man whose into perceived wealth, and not taking care of his personal finances appropriately. Being that she never saw his home or anything it wouldn't be a hard conclusion to jump to.
