David, nice video! I notice that Kevin Glen Drake, in talking about his joinery saw, says that Japanese saws are best on soft woods, whereas Western saws are best on hardwoods. I guess you might disagree? John B

When Japanese saws were first exported this was true. But they have long since adapted their saws to suit the harder woods used a outside Japan. All the best, David.

Can you tell me when you select to use Japanese saw/knife vs. standard Western saw. Sorry I ask stupid question because I am a beginner in woodwork. I cant even make a straight cut. All my cuts at the moment are wonky!

I have been thinking about ordering one of your guides a couple of times already. Great design! If you do one more video using them I will certainly order it :) why arent you using a planing board that works on pull for your japanese saw, though?

Thank you. The 372 cuts so cleanly it doesn't really matter which side you put the stop, although of course you are right I should be showing it with a stop at the front

That's a clever idea.

David, have you considered a 45 degree mitre guide as an aid to those who like to put a mitre on top of the dovetails when installing back panels or inset tops in box lids.

Please have a look at my website, the 45 degree guide is now in stock! All the best, David.
