This is probably my best tip for you.. what do you think! 😊

I really like using a projector. I got a super cheap Bluetooth, battery operated projector. I am able to send whatever photo I want to the protector and shine it onto my paper and then o can trace the lines. Pros: Super small I can take it anywhere. I can transfer as many images as I want without any consumable tools. I can transfer small things or really big things. I can use it for more than just art transfers, like playing videos or projecting photos on my walls. Cons: My hand does get in the way of the image sometimes You either need to trace on a vertical surface or you have to suspend the protector so your image goes onto a flat surface.

that's a really cool idea. I've since saw a mobile app that does something similar. So many options, I'll have to look into that! Thanks!

@@sandyowncrafts is it da Vinci eye? It’s pretty cool, if you want to do any of your own references you have to pay for it, $30/year. Not too bad but I don’t like subscriptions.

@@ThatPaintingLass Not sure but yeah, with so many other options it doesn't make much sense to pay for it...

Do you happen to know what the name of projector is? It sounds like a great idea thanks for sharing!😊

You can use the sun and trace on the window. It works like a light box.

I've been watercolor painting for several months now and can't draw worth a flip, though, I am getting a little better..albeit, very little. Lol I tried the carbon paper as recommended by another artist and had smudges all over the paper. The best way for me is to capture an imagine on my phone, find an image online, etc.., print it, use a pencil on the backside and then trace. It works beautifully except when the image isn't the correct size. Any tips on how to adjust the sizing of a picture to fit your desired watercolor paper? My apologies as I'm ignorant when it comes to these type of things. Beyond changing the size of the printer paper, I've no clue. And, sometimes, a 5x7 or 8.5x11 just doesn't cut it.

Hi! I guess you would have to find an app on your phone that allows you to resize any image... In the computer you have several options like canva but I'm not sure if there's a mobile version.

I have to disagree; 90% of all amazing artists are not tracing😉 You can say that it’s ok to trace but it’s misleading to say that most artists are tracing

Hi. I'm obviously not claiming to know every artist on the planet and I don't think people think I mean that. But every professional artist I know that for some reason makes "copies" of they own work trace. They don't draw it from scratch every single time. When they're making studies for new work as well. That's what I meant. Have a great day!

@@sandyowncrafts well, copies of “their own work”, yes, often they do 👍🏻

KZbinrs better get good at tracing because AI is going to make selling prints obsolete. Ppl will be able to AI and print their own designs. Only the artists that can draw and sell originals at a reasonable price will survive. Gone will be the days of selling originals for hundreds / thousands of dollars.
