Shot 6 rolls of natura 1600 over the course of 2 months last year, definitely loved the pastel colors. Great shots!

thanks so much! must've burnt a hole in your wallet haha

@ a small hole haha, i scored a deal on carousell for $30 each, although i shot it on the xpan mostly so it amounted to roughly $1.50 a shot

okay then i suppose the xpan was what truly burnt a hole in your pocket haha :)

To anyone who going to shoot this film: I have a bunch in my freezer and tested a roll recently. It was all bought when the discontinuation was announced and was frozen well before expiration. This film was super sensitive! Which means it degrades faster than other color negative stocks and the ten year rule doesn’t apply. Super fast films like Natura 1600 get exposed by background radiation and freezing it doesn’t stop that. The second to last roll I shot was in 2021 and it had already lost about a stop of sensitivity. The tests I did recently showed that it had a sensitivity of about ISO 640-800 now. If you wanna be safe, rate it at 400. As for artificial light, I’ve seen it twice now that people talked about it being too warm under artificial light. But this has to do with the loss of sensitivity. Back when it was fresh it was great for artificial light and you could get amazing colors by exposing it at 1250. So if you’re now shooting a roll, try to give it as much light as possible under warm lighting. Shoot wide open at 1/60th or use a tripod and meter at 400 ISO. You’ll get very clean pastelly colors.

thanks for sharing! it's rly a shame since it was mainly special because of its high speed - shooting it at 400 seems almost sacrilegious, but it's probably the wiser thing to do :)

@ Nothing sacrilegious about it. Fast films just don’t keep well. That’s why they’re fast.

I used to buy this stock brand new (in Europe it was branded as Superia 1600) for 10 euro per roll... Anyhow, send your camera for seals replacement - they need to be replaced. :)

I was lucky to buy a film scanner (semi professional for 25 euros in a thrift store) so I can scan my dads old negatives. I feel that if you scanned them yourself you could get a much better image from it. The noise shouldn't be that rough.
@guywithfilm8 күн бұрын
sounds good man! this is actually an old video and i have since moved on to do DSLR scanning. i get much better negatives now which i convert using Negative Lab Pro. thanks for the kind suggestion and support :)

Why does every photography video have the same boring lo-Fi chill background music
