90 RPM Ultra Low Idle Radial 7 Engine - AngeTheGreat's Engine Simulator

This 17.9L radial 7 cylinder idles down at 90 rpm, it just chuffs along barely sipping gas while it does so. That's about it really, it makes oodles of torque by virtue of being an airplane engine in its design, I might want to revisit the ultra-low idle using the big block V8 that Ange gave us with the simulator, but this was quite difficult to manage as it was.

Nice. I recently got a 678L V16 to idle at about 60-80RPM, by the way. It tends to stall after rev-ups, though :/

@@oldgangster4119 I think I'll upload today a longer video of just this idling. I myself do enjoy listening to the sound of engines, especially an Olympic-class ocean liner's engine at cruise. There's a video called Titanic Steam Engine Sound 10h, its just great to listen to, the immense power of the huge engine getting the ship up to cruise speed, someone did the calculation based on the prop size and maximum turning speed and the engine's 4 cylinder cycle and realized its not flank or full ahead but its at cruise. It was fascinating that by knowing the propeller you can use sound to know its current speed too, since you can usually tell how many cylinders the engine has by each cylinder's note being different.

Hey, great work on managing this engine idling so low! If it had a 3000RPM limit, its idle is 3% of its maximum speed. Compared to, say, a Subaru EJ251 from 2000, which idles at 700RPM, limiter 6200RPM, making it idle at 11.3% of its maximum.

this would make a great motor for a mechanical siren.

That's a good use for it, though I'd imagine such a siren would be used atop perhaps a mountain and would be big enough to sound out over an entire city XD It would need at least a 10 to 1 step-up gearbox though, so at a cool 700 rpm or so it could turn the siren impeller at 7000 rpm. But the engine could potentially be used as a siren itself given it gets to the tone of an air raid siren at redline and just let it slow down and then rev up again in the rising and falling tone of an emergency alert siren, and then the solenoids and secondary impeller to make it capable of alternate wail too :P Edit: The biggest siren is a 50hp one, so this 460hp motor would make for an insanely loud one, especially as the one-off loudest siren ever made was the Chrysler Air-Raid Siren, a Firepower Hemi V8 making 180hp driving a big red siren that put out 138dB of noise that could be clearly heard 25 miles away. The ASC-T135 is the 50hp 3-phase powered siren, the biggest of the ACA Penetrator series. Even though the ASC-T135, known more as the P-50, is quieter than the Chrysler, its tone carries far because of an odd reverb echo it creates that makes the tone carry farther, like a standing wave effect of sorts that builds up when it stays at its full rpm for a constant wail.
