This Animaniacs episode took it JUST a bit farther. BUT it's all taken a VERY dark turn, with the Tiny Toons reboot where Buster and Babs, Previously in a romantic relationship [or as romantic as Kids can be in] are now clearly stated and shown to be Brother and Sister. "Let's hope not, it's a Children's show" 02:19 One of the original Warner brothers shorts did this gag, Two cats chasing Tweety-Bird, one catches him from the nest, the other yels Give me the Bird, GIVE-ME-THE-BIRD!! What gets slipped by is that "Goodnight everybody" and "Hellooooo Nurse" originated in Vaudeville acts in the same way they're used in the show. "Nurse" was always eye-candy and would get that reaction from the guys on stage. This of course reflects the 1930s aspect of the Warner Brothers (and Warner Sister) animation style. Rather meta in-joke.

My sister and I grew up with most of these, except for the ones from the 2000s. Since I was in high school during the 90s, when most of these shows had aired, I understood most of the jokes. And even though she was only in about the third or fourth grade at the time, my sister laughed right along with me. We're pretty intelligent, so the jokes weren't completely wasted on us, although sometimes, Mom had to them explain to me (I have Autism, so I didn't get some of them immediately). Otherwise, I understood enough. A lot of them made more sense once I went to college, though. Now, I'm 45, and still laughing at these jokes! Oh, here's one that didn't make the cut: It's from the "Windsor Hassle" episode of Animaniacs, where the Warners have been hired as interior decorators, for Windsor Castle, after it had been damaged by a rather devasting fire, and the Queen kept referring to herself in the third person. Yakko kept referring to her as Sybil, a joke I didn't understand until Mom explained to me. It was also a joke that made more sense after taking Introduction to Psychology, Freshman year of college. Apparently, Sybil had suffered from what we now know as dissociative identity disorder. Whoa! Heavy stuff, for a cartoon! Also, Sweetie Bird was misidentified as Shirley the Loon. Shirley was the blond, duck-like character, with the pink sweater and hairbow, who was based off of Shirley MacLaine.

The most rediculous thing about that Minerva Mink cartoon, is that they live in a world of anthropomorphic animals who don't wear clothes or are half dressed. She walks past a half a dozen different animals, none of whom are wearing clothes, and they're all swooning over her, yet she is then treated as if she needs to be covered up and would be embarrassed if she wasn't.
