Man the fact you say no one is falling for a weak ass pump fake tells me you're not watching games. DeRozan gets about 3-4 and ones each and every game on pump fakes. Everyone knows he's going to do it and still jump. The reason you're not seeing it now is players all play the exact same way, catch and shoot 3. 90's was definitely heavy on the iso but it was an art form to get your own shot in a crowded space. Yeah heaps of guys back then probably couldn't play today with the skill set they had but to think they couldn't learn to shoot 3's is crazy. It's as if you all think guys from pre 2000's lacked the ability to shoot 3's and would never be able to, nah it just wasn't an emphasis. You could say the same thing now about bigs, no inside game. It's just a response to what they're teaching players. Players today playing 90's guys and 90's rules with the 3 point shot taken away would get crushed. The opposite is probably true too. Todays game is a sprint whereas previous eras was more long distance. This whole more skill argument needs to stop. Shooting a 3 ball at higher efficiency isn't everything and it's definitely not more fun to watch, no one is rushing off to watch Steph Curry highlights to see the same shot over and over again despite how amazing he is.

The problem people have with today's effort is lack of effort. Too many of the most known players are not even trying on defense. Its frustrating if you really like a player as a scorer but he doesn't try defensively. Getting crossed over or dunked on still means they tried on defense. A nobody playing defense means less when a top 10 player refuses to play defense. Jokic is so respectable due to defensive effort. You can always say he tried and cares

I think you have to be honest with yourself. While you may like today's game, viewership is at its lowest in 40 years. And it's a simple reason, as a viewer it is much more exciting to see a player spin of off their defender, dribble into a hop step and finish with a layup or dunk over a defender than it is too see a player penetrate to the key and then instead of going up for a shot, pass it out to a player waiting beyond the arc. It is more exciting as a viewer to see a player penetrate the key, then wiz a pass past two defender's ears to a cutting teammate for a dunk or layup than it is too see a player penetrate to the top of the key, then pass it out to a player waiting beyond the arc, who passes it to another player sitting beyond the arc who shoots a three. The instinct, skill, and IQ to finish over and around defenders who are closer to the rim is greater than the ability to shoot open threes. While the younger generation which grew up on this thinks it is good basketball, the reality is that it is boring to watch, no matter how far out the 3 is taken. Analytics do not equal excitement or skill.

Know whats comedy? The only game in today's Modern NBA to have viewership on par with 1990s and 2000s are the All Star Games Despite this year's All Star game getting the regular 10+ million viewers, the 2024 All Star game is exactly why NBA is at its lowest viewership. It reminded people why they dont watch today's game as often
@StylesD83
@StylesD83 6 ай бұрын
@@sumnahlennon5449I heard recently, Adam Silver might get rid of the All-star game because of the low ratings. He's too dumb to understand what the problem really is. The All-star weekend will only be as good as the level of competition presented. These players just show up just to shoot around and don't hustle on defense. The rating of the NBA is suffering for the same reason, besides the fact players are missing 30+ games during the season. Imagine paying for front row seats...or any seat, only to find out the star players are benched for that game you paid for. This generation can say whatever they want about the past eras, but they can't say they were not competitive and load managing. If the 90's, 80's, 70's, etc were plumbers and firemen in comparison to today's players, well they were far more entertaining to watch and viewership proves that. Bigger, faster, and strong doesn't mean 💩 if you're not playing and ducking competition.

Most Kobe fans discuss the 2000s as the best era. Most MJ fans also like the 2000s. The 90s exposed skit ignores all of that to prioritize MJ. Which means its purely a Lebron James fan thing. Most people say that 2000s was the most defensive era ever since teams averaged like 95 points per game. But few Lebron fans even watched 2000s NBA. Even if Lebron himself played in the 2000s the Lebron fanbase knows NBA from just 2016 to present

It's funny how all but 3x NBA championship teams between 2000-2014 were headlined by plumbers drafted in the 90's. Of those the 2006 Heat had Shaq but at that point he was the #2 option while the other 2 teams were the LeBron Heat who were stacked and supported with plumbers like Ray Allen who won them a chip with the luckiest rebound / 3 pointer from the corner. I laugh when people talk about modern players dominance but they couldn't get past the plumbers until they hung up their overalls.

Watching these highlights are a testament to the fact that a lot of these "new" kids don't know what the hell they're talking about. They don't watch whole games, but play sports analysts while only watching highlights and listening to b.s. hearsay from people 25 years old and younger. I'm 40 and still, don't speak on what I never lived through. How the hell I'm going to tell a 60 year old, Wilt Chamberlain was trash, when I wasn't even alive to see him play? That's just plain, stupid. Hell, today's generation don't even know exactly, what a carry or travel is because the rules are so, laxed. But they feel like they are basketball historians. I let the players I was too young to assess or not alive to see, be great and understand they played in a different era. I dont disrespect the builders of the sport because they had it much, harder than my generation and paved the way for the players I enjoyed watching during the late 80's and beyond. It's very easy to talk 💩 about the past when you're not around/born to help build the road we're enjoying today. It's like speaking ill of your parents, grandparents, etc right after they worked harder for less, so we and their future grandkids wont have to. It's arrogant and ungrateful to do so, even if they're not happy with what you and your generation is doing. Their might be some nuggets of wisdom within their critique. Some of them might be bitter/resentful, but not all of them.

If anyone’s really paying attention to all these left-handed shots made by MJ, notice how MJ sized up the defense and where defenders were standing as he creatively used his excellent footwork and creative shot making skills to split the double and triple teams to make these defenders look like plumbers and traffic cones….just in this video alone, MJ scored on Kareem, Worthy, and two other Lakers who were trying to stop him in the paint and they couldn’t do it! MJ was schooling 2-3-4 defenders at a time…consistently! Unfortunately, today’s soft NBA rules, you won’t see anyone driving to the hoop like MJ did with a crowd of defenders swarming to stop them from scoring. 🎤🔥✌️

Agree 100%. And Jordan's left was superior to today's southpaw players (Brunson, Harden, D'Angelo Russell, Zion, Ben Simmons, Sabonis, Julius Randle) off-hands. If ballers have exponentially evolved like today's infinitely ignorant claim, then these players right-hands should be as strong as their left-hands. Another thing - not all of us were MJ fans. From an entertainment value: 1990s are the best. For best superstars in a decade: the 2000s are the best. During the 2000s every other NBA star was known by non-NBA fans. In 2020 its just Steph Curry and Lebron that are mainstream. To the point that ESPN are fearful of historic low NBA ratings. They have to talk Jordan vs Lebron to trend. If they go off topic from Lakers historic low ratings occur.

For ppl saying he got no handles they should watch voyager part 2. You’re going to like your era of basketball, that’s natural. The the thing about it is the disrespect and I don’t mean just with Jordan, I mean ppl act as tho Shawn Kemp never existed and drove the lane, the reason they had iso basketball is because it’s a lot purer as far as basketball supposed to be. You can’t judge the D from the 90s off some highlights, you take into consideration that era of ball, and the style meaning no easy layups, and no that don’t mean breaking a dudes neck, that means challenge everything. That means that if Lebron is coming thru you challenge his shot, or Jordan or whoever it is. Not asking that you watch a full game because I don’t expect you to do that but, today it’s run to the 3point line and shoot, don’t touch the player or it’s a foul. The refs and fans have to understand it’s a contact sport, it’s impossible not to have some sort of contact. It’s like comparing rappers from the 90s and today, you prefer whatever style you listen to but for my money none of them stack up to Big Pun, Biggie, Pac, Big L, DMX, Mobb Deep, Snoop, young IceCube, Rebel INS. it’s what I prefer but nobody got the right to trash that era, they ain’t live it, they was 100 percent real.

Disastrous record low 2024 NBA finals ratings show how few modern NBA fans even watch today's NBA. Too busy watching NBA TikTok than to care whats actually happening in the sport itself. Once again, 2000s fans, early 2010s NBA fans also say those eras are more enjoyable to watch than 2020s. But these TikTokers dont get views unless "Lebron and Jordan" are referenced. So they stick to what is essentially "1996 Jordan vs 2024" Lebron but mix in 80s and 2000s footage because Lebron fans think any year before 2016 is the 90s

This isn't worth acknowledging. But 1997 is the first season NBA used shot charts and MJ took more field goal attempts on the left than the right. So in 5 seconds, a false statement can be debunked with 5 seconds of research. It would be a better argument that MJ has less of a middle. Because most field goal attempts he made were from left, then right, and least in middle

How he played with each shoe he came out with. If MJ or anyone was using EPO anyone can have longevity bud

Let me make it clear. That "90s exposed" TikTok is started by Lebron James fans. Its purely a continuation of MJ vs Lebron. Not all of us newer fans are like that.

It took me 5 seconds of research to being up a shot chart of the 1997 season to prove that most of MJ's field goals were from the left. Even though it looks very even. Jordan frequently did the fadeaway move so he was frequently getting into position in the very left anyway. Or the right. But it took me 5 seconds to point this out

Understand that the game has been evolving for the last 30 years shut off course it looks more polished than it did in the 90s just like it did in the 90s versus the 60s

Basketball was big in the 1990s and 2000s. 2010s not as popular was still low. Today's NBA viewership is at a historic record low. Alot of todays fans dont want to watch full games. They watch 5 minute Lakers highlights and say they watched the game

Dude. People fell for Jordan's pumpfake in 2003. 40 year old Jordan did that same pumpfake. And the best defensive era is the 2000s. 1990s defense is simply more strict than 2020s. But 2010s defense was more strict than 2020s. By defense I mean top stars like Curry and Luka (or league faces) not prioritizing defense as much as say Kobe or even Vince Carter. There is Jokic but he is an exception. Even James Harden wasnt that defensive focused and he was a league face

Or he can just watch actual NBA games this year. Steph Curry literally does the same Jordan like pumpfake. But with Curry its worse because Curry lifts his right arm to pumpfake without the ball in his hand and people fall. Atleast with MJ the ball is in his hand. Curry lifts his right arm, while keeping the ball still in his left hand. The move and its variants is still used today.

James Harden regularly falls for the worse no effort pumpfakes. To the point that it seems like he is pretending to be faked out. With Jordan and Steph Curry atleast players have an excuse. They are scoring 60. James Harden is a top NBA superstar and he falls for these fakeouts so bad it almost seems as if its an excuse to not put defensive effort

@@sleepshouter6569James Harden's defense is meme worthy and comedy. Its meaningful because Harden isn't a "plumber" as they say. It depends on how far people's knowledge of modern NBA besides Lebron is.

King Con's game is ugly as Lady Gaga make-up free. There is nothing he does that makes you wanna see replay. MJ was a Bugatti at Autobahn with agility of big cats in safari. Bron is a water buffalo in a stampede.

The 1990s are not the only era with better defense than 2020s. The 2000-2009 era is included.

Lack of defense combined with load management. Players that actually play defense today only do so because they are not yet popular enough to get permission to slack off

The ultimate goal in today's NBA players is to become big enough to take time off and play no defense. If a player today reaches "All Star" mode, he will begin load management and stop playing defense all together.
