This was the universal mall in Warren Michigan. This must have been taken around 2006. This mall was so hip in the 80s and 90s very busy all the time. The open area between the purple walls was a restaurant but they turned it into a smoking area. After 2002 smoking was no longer allowed inside. I’ve eaten at this food court many times and got food from the Ham Carver and coney dog. The mall used to full of music stores at least 5 of them. County seat, Montgomery Ward, Crowleys, Mervyns, Woolworth, Claire’s, Debs, Pass Pets, Kreme Korn, Payless shoes, radio shack. The tvs you see up there was an upgrade that happened in the 90s. The movie theatre was always so fun to go to 50 cent tickets on Mondays. Arcades inside. I miss these days. I came here with Zena Atallah here once and watched “my father the hero” ended up finding it boring and threw popcorn on the screen and left 😅 so many beautiful things to see in this mall back in the day. I love it thank you 🙏

Quick stops to make today: Babbages for the new Flight Simulator for Windows 3.1, Waldenbooks, Barefoot Mailman (For those in Florida), Spencers, and then maybe Orange Julius, and lastly, a quick stop at Hickory Farms store for a gift for my grandma.

The shopping malls where I live in Santos (southeastern Brazil) were much nicer and more elegant in the 1990s, when my city was the main tourist stop on cruises between Rio de Janeiro and Buenos Aires. Today, after the communists came to power and the pandemic, everything is very decadent.
