Excellent alternative to taping the entire fretboard! Sorry for your financial investment in tools you don't need anymore, bummer. Your loss is our gain. Thanks for showing all. Keep on!

yes Scotty I have never seen those kind of locking tuners either ,I imagine that guitar is worth a pretty penny think the Company was only 6 years old when this guitar was made ,I used to live very close to his Shop back in those days

Great work Scotty D…I had a PRS with those wing tuners…I don’t think I ever strung the guitar right the whole time I owned it😫

This is my guitar. It’s actually a 1989 model. I’m not sure about the signed back plate. I bought it like that. Also to my knowledge, birds were pretty rare when they first come out. I have a 2002 CE24 that’s identical to this guitar, other than it had dot inlays. It has the same 5 way rotary switch. I fell in love with it!!

Using your technique of wiping on color and clear coat with a Viva paper towel. I just repaired an ugly crack in a guitar neck. It turned out perfect. Sharing knowledge like that is priceless. You are the stuff of guitar heroes. Thank you for sharing.

PRS makes a very nice guitar. Those tuners are kinda weird. Use a 25" scale on my guitar builds. And the series parallel is a great way to coil tap and still retain humbucking while still getting that SCish sound.

Great video. I’m interested in your decision to fret level under string tension. You mentioned the neck relief, under tension. That relief has always made me concerned I’ll take too much off the first couple frets and those are the 12”, if I do full leveling under right strings. So I’ve taken the time to remove the string and tweak the truss rod until I get a level fret board (notched straight edge), THEN leveled the frets. Have I been over thinking it, all these years? On a side note, that full neck fret shield is SO COOL! I’ve seen them before, but never in use. Great job!

Thank You. The customer recommended using the under string leveling on 1 of his 2 guitars. It was a Chibson Les Paul. I decided to use it on both and they both turned out great.

If the tuners are still in ok condition you only need to pull the string tight through the slot, start tuning and they will automatically lock in place. If you get it perfect the strings never go over the wing part. On older guitars it can definitely be hard work though

Trem up route on a Custom 24 is a rare option from that era.

Like, but no problem with steel wool fines getting into pickups? I thought it was taboo, but I’m not exactly a fret dude. Just asking is all.

A vacuum cleans up the steel wool no problem
