No matter how poor, middle class or rich the real supposed environment.. everything just looked like it was built with such quaility or were inventions of guenuine uniqueness back then. Even when looking at the various people, most of them, just seem to look, a lot more healthier and well put together, even happy and very determinedly motivated, than people are today. There's a great energy, I feel, many of them possess. No matter what the circumstance, they are photographed. I am also astonished at the clarity you find in most of the images photographed. I feel it from the many images.. like they all deeply lived.

Wow, you really put your own feelings into pictures of people just like us, and you see them as being very different. Wish fulfillment.

Oh yes.. If that was your goal? You most certainly did accomplish that. At first I wasn't going to comment, but as I went through, I felt it so strong and saw the essence of being full of real life and joy and living energy, exude from the images. It was like wow! I want whatever they are drinking/eating/ thinking. And no matter how many pictures on Instagram, Facebook etc., people create and display there is something (an energy, a spirit.. something) truly missing in modern folk and modern life now. No matter how much people dress themselves up, in this time period, that essence of living or having lived, it's just not there anymore. Or I'll at least say rarely. Anyway I really enjoyed. I will check out more of your work. Great job!❣️

The photo that impacted me the most was of the two men of the 101st Airborne on June 6, 1944 (dressed as Apaches) getting ready to parachute into St. Mere Eglise, France. My father, Captain Robert L. Jackson, was an Army Air Corp. pilot of C47 named "Eightball" assigned to drop the 101 and 82 Airborne parachutists on that day and the two following days during the D-Day Invasion at Normandy, France. I am writing this comment on June 6, 2024, 80 years later. Dad's remains are in Arlington National Cemetery. He was one of the Greatest Generation, along with these two men.

Marie , l wish your father could have been in Normandy France for the recognition of the Greatest Generation. I only saw it on tv but it was very moving. These men were indeed the greatest, not only the parachutists but all those who paid the ultimate price on land and water. The survivors had life long horrors . One gentleman passed on his way to Normandy, he was 102 years old. I wish I could have given these strong brave old guys a big hug and a kiss on the cheek ❤ War is Hell. I wanted you to know that others grieve also, some, like me, don't realize what this is all about until we are also much older and have also lost. Bless you 🙏. Thank you for your message.

As for this first photo, the clothes in the picture were worn in the period from 1900 to 1914. Women in 1920 wear shorter dresses, there are no more big hats and their hairstyles are shorter. So this photo was definitely not taken in the twenties.

Those weird camouflaged mother photos were if the family just wanted a picture of the child and they were too young to sit on their own. It’s sort of ridiculous. But yes, people did photograph and even pose with deceased relatives sometimes.

guess again look at the arm she wasn't the mother she was a slave and they didn't want their daughter in a picture with the black woman that's why they covered her face and she's got her hand under the girls skirt but it doesn't cover all the arm and you can see that the arm is black. back in the day when people took photographs with the dead they did not cover the dead face that was the whole point of taking the photograph

I am guessing that, in the photo "Mother (hidden) and child" that the mother was dead. That photo will be the only tangible evidence the child will ever have of its mother😥😥😩❤
@rosapanther8466
@rosapanther8466 Ай бұрын
That is not true. If she would have been deceased, her face would be shown. The reason she is hidden is, that they wanted to photograph the child, but children don't sit still long enough for the photos to be taken. Most children do sit still(er) on their mothers laps, but since only that child was supposed to be on the photo, the mother would be hidden

Well, like I replied to an earlier post, back in the '50's, some people could only afford B & W film and prints. My mom then could make a few (badly needed) bucks colorizing them to be kept as family heirlooms. She did a great job of it, too. Lots of hostility from you over something so innocent.
