It's odd how the 915 is seen as a lesser gearbox, but the 5 speed 915 was the RS2.7 box. Mastering the 915 is part of the 911. The G50 was the first dilution of the pure 911. I've owned both, and currently own a 915 3.2. Fantastic 911s. The final development if the pure 911.

Simply incredible that for all the heritage and cost for these cars, no one paid attention to ensuring the design minimised rust. So it is when money making is the priority.

Love the color... I had 2 911SC’s in Light Blue Metallic, both had painted wheels to match, so this video was a trip down memory lane. 👍

The Porsche 911 3.2 Carrera 1988 g50 and the Porsche 911 2.4 S 1972 in my opinion are the best Porsche ever made at the moment the Porsche Cayman 981 is the car you should buy amazing driving experience !

Can’t fault the 915 on my 84 3.2 it’s all about respecting and mastering it 😊

Very knowledgeable! I love our '86 Carrera Cab. The sound is just wonderful and the power is perfectly suited to modern roads. A sorted suspension gives a nice compliant ride with little body roll. Maintenance is simple enough and parts are pretty available. Can't say enough good about the car! The 915 may be a bit slower, but really adds to the character and is far cheaper to rebuild than the G50. If you are considering one, go for it! You won't be disappointed! A true drivers car. F

I have always wanted a '87 911 but alas I'm poor so it getting more remote. Had a chance to drive a pristine speedster and they do sound and drive sublime. Thanks for the insight bud and keep these fantastic vids coming, always good to see 27 pop up as a video

It is a shame that values have reached these heights as it does make the cars unattainable for real enthusiasts. 964's are similar price wise and yet 6 years ago when I bought mine it was just £10K!!!

Lovely colour really suits the porker. Basically then, they can rust pretty much all over. But hey for the year they are solid and for non galvernised im not surprised. Keep 'em coming!
@Number276 жыл бұрын
They are actually galvanised but there is no cure for time.. rust will eventually find a way. It's not usually too bad though considering most of these will have spent 70-80% of their lives outside. Roofs,floors, bonnets, deck lids and doors are common rust areas on other cars but less so here..

Maybe the best Porsche engine. Love them. Tuned :). The first gen gearbox you can get a wevo joint kit and shortshifter (they become as smooth as g50, a bit more mechanical). Love them! Summery of the video... Porsches and parts are very expensive :). Maybe generally overpriced (for me personally)
@Number276 жыл бұрын
Agree with you on the 915.. a well set up one is actually even more rewarding to use than a G50!! Thanks for watching.

Ryan Mccormick Hi Ryan these journalist on car mags have had there day. The Real knowledgeable guys are owners and help of other owners through clubs and online portals. Remember that mag when it came out back in 02 or 03 repeat same old drivel issue after issue 15 min read Proberly 60% of pages are advertising, fine if it's for pictures, the real info comes for years of ownership. All of these mags do is artificially inflate the price of the cars and stop a younger generation enjoying them,luckily I have owned 3

@garymurraya2 жыл бұрын
so basically it rusts everywhere there is metal haha.... i didnt know they were that bad for rust. I wonder if you can add plastic inner wheel arches to prevent at least the rust coming from that area....
@maxmeier5325 жыл бұрын
At this point with these investment bubble prices, you might as well get a classic Ferrari and drive something that may be worse technically (in some cases) but defenitely is more of an exotic and will hold up value at least as well.

Had my 84, 3.2 daily driver in California in 2002. Bought with 99k in 12months put 21300 on it 2 oil changes 2 tappets adjustments a must 161 indicated going through Mojave desert comming back from Vegas in my opinion best 911 classic but modern reliability, land of bad taste have best spec cars all have full leather and air con, and none have [pimp my ride whale tail and pipeing on seats like uk cars] bit like city gents wearing bozo the clown shoes. 50% of Cali cars back then had over 200k+ miles on them. Bottom ends good for 300k. 915 boxes crunch going into 1st not uncommon and have oil coolers, best buys lhd Mediterranean cars lift bonnet underneath bolts still have cad plating on them not scabby salted like uk cars RHD pedals feel weird, 7 inch wheels nice option as well, high mileage well cared for cars best buys, Lots owned by plummey nerds here in uk, best built car on the planet bar 993 bit better build ,don't fixate on g50s and mileage. Condition first, they have Toyota reliability. Left hookers are best in you can live with it' one day will have another
@Number276 жыл бұрын
thanks, useful info there.. though 993's were actually a step down from 964's in terms of build quality. Porsche were desperate to make more profit at that stage and cut corners on things like rear engine rails which rust on 993's and not 964's. Only small detail differences in finish though, they were screwed together just as well.
@checker36946 жыл бұрын
Number27 True, I went from 3.2 to 34k miler 993 sadly missed 964, lot still had leaking oil from head to block then, so passed on them,don't think any suffer from that now all been sorted. leather, carpet and door card pockets, slightly better quality on 993 over 3.2,. Can't confirm rust then as sun damage was problem in California to cars, Your A+ on reviews, but please no more using guys like him, you could have done that review better and more in depth. The internet cancels out these pointless mags, and forces up prices of what are brilliant but highly over priced cars, There is a young generation that should be enjoying these cars, An leave these plummy nerds to concentrate on there speech Therepy

Also Do not waste your money bringing these cars to specialist to service, Porsche magazines write about these company's as if there gods, these cars are so simple for reg maintence a good mobile can service it for you, it should not have an inch thick of invoices with it, a proper car with 150k will have 15 oil changes maybe 2 clutches bunch of tappet adjustments and maybe top end rebuild rare,and brakes,
@timgraysontv5 жыл бұрын
Very true, you can pretty much service them yourself
