Thanks for your videos Mike @Mike Katona they are informative and great watching. I am an old horse riding Australian bloke who would truly like to see a similar semi-formalised group of young fella's keeping traditions alive here in the Australian bush. I hope your mob continues riding for decades to come !

Dear Mike, I´ve seen many rendezvous videos and I´ve seen many mountain men, but I think you are authentic, your style and your customs are the most faithful to your traditions. Congratulations!

You probably get asked this all the time but where do you find your period correct clothing and hats . Do you make you own clothing ? Can't find anyone who sells hats correct for that era . Also are your saddles specially made too or are modern american saddles still fairly close in design to one's used back in the day .

Do you fellers know of a group that does this in Montana? I’m relocating to the Bozeman area very soon.

Lots of people in MT. I will give you a contact when I get to my list. How hard core are you talking?

Where do y'all get your saddles?
@MikeKatona3 жыл бұрын
Various makers. I have sold all of my stock and am selling mine. That is what happens a lot. A guy gets old, sells or out lives his stock, and sells his tack.

@@MikeKatona im sorry to hear that you are selling your gear. Are you getting out of buckskinning all together or just the stock side of it.

@@jtjackson365 I think I am done. Too old to go to the mountains. I promised myself years ago that I would never become a burden to the men I travel with and at 79...you are a burden wether you admit it or not.

Fun, but also work. Every time I did something like that, I was always hungry. .....and needed a shower...always a great time. Never did a horseback muzzle loader camp out and shoot. Thanks.

@@MikeKatona I have to say its nice in this day and age that one can see so many great trips and skills from way back when, I do miss my horses a Palomino with lots of character and it was all about him and my Appaloosa that was good on his hoofs got us out of bad mud bogs every time and the bugger liked to run..
