Join Renew Democracy Initiative (RDI) Chairman, chess grandmaster, and political dissident Garry Kasparov and CNN Senior Political Analyst John Avlon on the future of democracy in America and abroad.
American democracy has traditionally been perceived as a shining city on a hill. Today, however, not only is this perception faltering internationally, but Americans themselves are losing faith in their democracy. At the same time, authoritarian governments abroad are growing bolder--brutally cracking down on protests, meddling in democratic elections, and even invading foreign countries.
This has us asking: how can Americans protect their own democracy and help stop the spread of authoritarianism?
In this event, we will explore what those individuals who have risked their lives for semblance of freedom abroad can teach us about valuing and defending our own democracy. Dissidents are experts on the risks of political extremism, how authoritarians corrupt democracy, the dangers of limiting free expression, and the critical role of the United States in world affairs. They are uniquely-versed in identifying the emerging threats that face democracy today and, more importantly, how to respond to these crises early for a better tomorrow.

When it comes to history Garry is on top even in the details . Mentioning a Thomas Mann-speech on american radio 1940 is more then impressive. This combined with his ability of analytical thinking, which is unreached, gives some pretty accurate insights. Everyone listening can prophit From this guy.

..... 10 months later, I'm watching this again, (tramp did get the nomination predicted) and thinking the same thing. I suppose we could say quality not quantity, is at play here.... the right people giving the right message, reaching the right people, and receiving genuine informed attention is a sign all is not lost. .... I'm thinking of all the sensationalist channels (on any fleeting topic) that receive 1000's of views, likes and comments, and fuel ludicrous arguments, aggressive debates leading no where, and are forgotten when the next big headline is presented in neon lights .... it's fickle, vapid, achieves little more than smoke and mirrors. A destructive wild fire with too much oxygen... as opposed to a slow burn power house intent on spot lighting the unspectacular roots of the issue.. An interview with Garry, who's message is unwavering, and experience undeniable... that's something people seek out absorb and expand upon. Keep seeking the right people with the right message, it does more to deprive the wild fires of oxygen than we know.👊🏼

Я получал второе высшее в РГУФКе. В моей группе учился шахматист. Дядя был сильно старше всех нас. При том, что мы тоже не детьми там учились. Так вот он сказал мне что шахматисты - это не самые умные люди, а просто люди, которые умеют играть в шахматы. Как же он был прав. Если пересказать интервью, то выйдет следующее: ааа... эээ... ууу... мном-мном... ыыы... Даже слово оппозиция для него сложно, ведь там два П!!! Именно за таких молился Иисус, со словами: "они не ведают, что творят". Спасибо за видео. Это было незабываемо!!!

Russia wil win the war, but Ukraine is not a democracy so what's the big deal? I don't get it. Gary is a hero, but I feel some questions are not answered and there are some gaps in the story
