Thank you for this video! I had the exact same problem. Those axles are supposed to pull right out by hand but these older quads, sometimes they get stuck. I pulled like hell after soaking it down for 3 days with pb blaster and it would not budge. I was ready to tie it to the bumper of my pickup truck and yank the shit out of it (but I didnt) when I found your video. I had to remove the front plastic to get the crowbar in there properly but when I tapped it with the sledge, it popped right out!

Your a total legend thanks! I used just the standard length crow bar on my 2002, fairings on but wheels off. Worked brilliantly. I found after several hits turning the axle 180 and then hitting it again, finally got it unstuck.

Hello! I am working on the same thing on a quad runner 500. I just got the diff out tonight! but I am only down to one full CV connected on the right side, and the half shaft connected on the left side (I pulled the axel and it came out without the half shaft.... I have the same exact failure point as you, where the drive shaft goes in to the diff from the rear. I am guessing I will need to take the whole thing apart and rebuild, but I am not sure if it will come apart with the half shafts still connected. Curious to know where you are at in the process. Thanks for this video!

I am not a small engine mechanic; and right now I am about 5 years away from that repair and the bike long gone. I can't be much help for you on this one. I can tell you that once out I had a very difficult time getting the differential apart, and because of rust or other factors I couldn't get certain gears out as they were seized in too much. I simply bought a second-hand working one on Ebay and put it in.

Is the differencal the price that makes it 4x4
@39knights6 жыл бұрын
steve steve cant say for certain but I also have the 2x4 lt-f250 bike I am doing a topend rebuild. The frames and engines are identical. There is a capped hole on the 2x4 engine where the 4x4 engine has a yoke for the front driveshaft. I am almost sure some of the internal gearing is missing on the 2x4 engine as well. But with the right parts you could turn the 2x4 into a 4x4 and vice versa.

I removed a slightly different style axle on a newer king quad. After I had the parts, the removal was pretty easy. kzbin.info/www/bejne/p4qVXqFrhcSNprs

I agree but I live in a wet salt-prone area near the ocean. Between the age of the machine, the lack of proper maintenance before I bought it, the salt and moisture; I was lucky to even get it apart as I did.
