Thank you so much for the video. I visited the Meningate memorial to find my uncle's name. I found it at about 10ft high which was fortunate. I signed the book of rememberance where I found his name and address. I didn't manage to stay for the last post so your film completed my pilgimage. The whole experience was very moving and I am the only member of his family to find his name ( he had no known grave and was 17 years old)

Was there this summer and saw the ceremony. Precisely at the end of the silence there was a tremendous flash and a bang which I assumed was a cannon to mark the start of the silence. It was only when a torrential downpour started that we realised the timing was a complete coincidence, and that it was thunder and not a cannon. Once in a lifetime moment.

I witnessed this ceremony when I was 14. I'd never thought about war or sacrifice much until then. I don't mind telling you I was shaken and in tears for the next 6 hours. It blew my mind and rocked me to the core. Now I carry the memory of their deeds with me always. They shall not grow old as we who are left grow old. Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning, We will remember them.

Wish the piper keep his slurs for concerts not this type of function. And before anyone questions that, I was regimental Bugler Drum Sgt to the London Irish Rifles and the London Regiments, and have been playing at war memorials like this with the Regiment all over France and Belgium with every tour, including playing at the Cenotaph for the Burma Star and the War Windows the day before Remembrance Day. Lieu déjà impressionant mais la cérémonie du "Last Post" est particulièrement émouvante et depuis 1928 (sauf entre 40-45) tous les soirs à 20H00 les pompiers le sonnent et terminent par le "réveil". Nous n'oublions pas!
