@condorcdogunner ''to preserve your way of life and give others a right to a life without opression so sit down and think again you muppet''...N.Ireland is Irish territory, the oppressed people are the Catholics, and again with the Gulf War, Iraq and Afghanistan, an invading force.... Un Tour of Bosnia and Nato tour fine... but those other tours weren't about protecting anyones rights.

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old: Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning, We will remember them. Lest We Forget PS If you see anyone burning a poppy, feel free to explain your opinion forthrightly, with as much sensitivity and cultural awareness as the men they are disrespecting would have used.

@Mockingbird2310 I'm not British, but if I ever saw such a thing, I'd kick their heathen arses. If you want to live in Britain (or America or France or wherever), show some respect or leave. Wouldn't these people expect the same thing in their home countries?

With a tear in our eye and our hands on our hearts, We remember the men sent to foreign parts. They picked up the guns and fought in a war, In a land were killing and violence was law. They did this with honour, carried their flag with great pride, In the dug outs and trench’s where the enemy lied. Our men so immortal now burned in or hearts, We still pray should return from those foreign parts. PJT 2010

I want to say to every yank thinking, you won the war....its bullshit! The Common wealth knocked ten bells of shit out of the nazis before u joined, to give one last suker punch. we took one hell of a shelling. but stayed strong, long live the Queen and the RAF. Peace brothers. RESPECT!

my great grandfather was a major in the scottish highlanders division he was killed in the 1944 normandy invasion during the d-day landings he died commanding his troops to this day my grandfather still weeps about his passing and how on his grave it says he died for britain and not for scotland so he prity much died for england which really annoys me so vote up for scottish independance and properly mourn our soliders passings

i lived very near someone who died in afghanistan and we went to the same school but he was much older than me but i knew his sister and was friends with her and i remember her being very uspet as she had found out her brother had died and i only recently found out that the youngest person to died in iraq and afghanistan was 18 and lived in herefordshire which i live in its only a small but very nice and historic county but we have already had 4 people from hereford dead in the recent wars

Was there this summer and saw the ceremony. Precisely at the end of the silence there was a tremendous flash and a bang which I assumed was a cannon to mark the start of the silence. It was only when a torrential downpour started that we realised the timing was a complete coincidence, and that it was thunder and not a cannon. Once in a lifetime moment.

War brings out the best in humanity, just listen to yourselves talk to eachother... I detect another war in our future, caused by people who fail to communicate with understanding and compassion. Ever notice how supposed allies are even fighting eachother in a war of words on the net? Next it will be guns or worse! I have an idea, how about we all calm down and think before we speak?
