94 Town Car Window Regulator and Motor

Thanks for the video, was very helpful. I have a 96 Lincoln town car. Drivers side window was in bad order. I purchased a motor and window regulator both for less then $150.00 When I removed the motor & regulator I found the regulator cable in bad order.I replaced both units.system works beautiful. I would suggest that if the motor is in bad order, inspect the cable on the regulator, if it shows signs of wear "replace it" Also expect to lose a little blood. Marvin Muenchow Boerne, Texas

Did it in about 1 hour because someone had already been through and done the job of drilling out this and that... Had all the bolts there etc. Thanks again.

Thank you.. each time my window motor craps out on me, I watch this video.. Hopefully you don't mind, but I wanted to tell your viewers that I have bought window regulators from ebay and advance auto parts..the ones on ebay don't come with hardware or threaded holes to bolt on the hardware.. the ones in advance auto parts have hardware and threaded holes to screw them Into.. They cost 95 bucks for 1x window motor and regulator.. It made the job alot faster.

I had three fail when the plastic anchor on the regulators broke. When that happens the cable detaches so it can't pull the window up or down. It's a horrible design prone to repeat failures. UNLESS!!!!...you do what I did. When you get the new regulator, fill the entire plastic anchor assemble (it not that big) with JB weld. Don't use the quick...use the normal stuff. Make sure it surrounds the cable ends. Use paper between the plastic assembly and the metal track to prevent the JB weld from seeping through the small holes. This method transfers the pull load over a wider area including the opposing cable. It will never fail in that manner again and you can actually use your windows without worry.

the motor IS good (singing strong) - all you need is a window reg gear kit or the 3 plugs that always go bad. just pull cover off gear -clean-lube ,also lube tracks w/ silicone spray

It happens to me too. It's an adjustment thing. You should notice that when rolling your window up the window may tilt forward. You will need to work on your adjustments until it rolls up smooth.

Mine is having an issue that appears to be with the brand new reg, where when it goes up the back goes first and the front droops, so it misaligns. Everything is tight, there's just a lot of slop in the regulator.

--- Give this idea a try. Remove the panel,roll the window down, loosen the two nuts on the top of the window regulator, roll the window up and tighten the two nuts. This is how I did it,and it works great. Good luck---

I used 6mm flange bolts. Length 12mm. Pitch 1.0 with nylon lock nuts.

It isn't necessary to pull the whole regulator to replace the motor. However there are three nylon bushings in the motor gear assembly. These usually go bad, you can replace them with a kit from the dealer for less than $5.00, cheaper than a motor.

Sick370z Vlogs if you are sure the motor is good, it may be a defective regulator. I’ve never seen this before so I would take it back apart and move the regulator manually and make sure it has a full range of movement. Well now nay I think about it, try loosening all your regulator bolts and roll it up and down. May just be in a bind.

iamthepuzzleman yeah it’s good , I also loosen the top two nuts on the regulator and it worked better then how it was , I also stupidly removed the moulding cause I couldn’t take glass out & now it’s not as perfect as it was so maybe that could be ?

Hello, I have a question, I did everything but when I install the window back and I was testing 2 times the bracket that holds the window broke, so I dont know what its happenning, cause its second elevator I brocke and it does it when it goes half way up and the front part tips towards the front, I will really apreciate your help, thank you

Sounds like it was in a bind. Like any moving part you will want to leave the bolts a little loose while testing. Roll the window up then snug them a little. Test down and up again. If it slides smooth then tighten. Always yes loose or snug. Not tight. Never heard of one braking though. Usually the window just binds up.

My mom has a 1994 grand Marquis and it makes a laboring sound when you hit the switch going up or down. The window does not move at all. Brand new switches. Does this sound like a motor or regulator or both? Great video 👍👌. consider me a subscriber.

Did you check to see if the 3 nylon things in the motor have crumbled .? If that is the case you can put new ones in the motor

Why is my window rolling down fast but up very slow and slowing to a crawl at the very top. I just installed a brand new motor and regulator set for both front windows....this is the most frustrating job I've ever tried.

this guys a riot ...you can hear that motor w/o taking anything apart. That sound is caused by the buttons in the gear found in the "HELP" section of your parts store.Lube gear, regulator w/ grease.Lube window runs w/ dry silicone.oh yea rivits at the bottom.

Ouch. Never ran into that. The cable is bound up somewhere. U may have to cut the cables on the regulator to free it then push the window down.

On my '96 Mercury Marquis you can easily access the 3 star screws holding the motor. I didn't have to touch any of the rivets. Remove the speaker as well to get both hands in there. It's a Whole Lot Easier and you don't risk getting the track out of alignment or have to remove the window (helps if the window is at least halfway up). 99% of the time it's going to be the motor anyway. Easy Peasy!

Your lucky the glass was replaced. The rivet on the left is a mother to get at. Had to us one of those long right angle 3" cutoff wheel to shear the end of the rivet off by reaching thru the speaker hole. Lucky me Parts Geek sent the wrong motor. Lucky me Napa had a rebuilt. Beggars can't be choosers.
