Wow!! That plane has to haul ass to stay in the air. Appears to be a handful to fly. Beautiful to look at on the ground.

I happened to be near this plane when it was supposed to be on display at Le Bourget in the late 80s. It was more like a ship in size. Unfortunately, it can only be seen as a model now.

I saw the full size aircraft with a Russian space shuttle on its back at Le Bourget in June 1989. Fortunately I was able to take some photos.

That was beautifully filmed, but why have an airliner meet at such a rough field? Not only is it hard on airframes and gear, it's not very scale looking, even with the best take offs and landings. Sorry to see this model get so abused.
@petermiles552 ай бұрын
He should have gone around on that fast landing. You always have to know when to accelerate.

Awesome looking jet but it needs to go on a major diet and get rid of those electric fans. Replace them with 2 new turbines. I know it is expensive but this plane looks like a porky nightmare too fly! hopefully we'll see it flying someday with some modifications.

Sorry to see that damage. You need smoother action servo's, and take more care on landings.

These models look realistic and even fly realistic, but they never seem to take off or land realistically especially on grass.
@ronsullivan1322 ай бұрын
With the size of their wheels they need a hard surface runway. Grass is way too rough.

Landing was way too fast.That was the issue
@SolarWebsite2 ай бұрын
Yep. And the underlying issue is that most of these large scale models are too heavy to fly at scale speed. I'd guess this plane would need to weigh about half its current weight to fly and especially land in a scale manner. But it would take an extremely talented builder indeed to reach such a weight, and the strength margins would surely decrease. In other words, one wrong pull on the elevator and the spar might snap.
@Fleetwoodjohn2 ай бұрын
It looks like it’s way too heavy. It needs almost full throttle to stay airborne-like it’s fighting for lift.

C'mon, man, it is the 21st Century not the 18th Century. Kilogram is a unit of mass NOT weight, thrust, tension or force!! And if you insist on using the old, obsolete metric system of the 18th Century science, then you would say kilogram-force as apposed to kilogram-mass. Force and weight in the modern SI Metric System that has been in place for a long, long time now has the units kilogram meter per second square = a Newton. Do you say or use kilogram-meter for torque or newton-meter?
@shkola992 ай бұрын
It is excessively powerful, so it flies too fast - not realistic.
@julesdomes60642 ай бұрын
That's how scaling down an aircraft works. To enable scale speeds the build would have to be extremely light and flimsy. It has been done, but is difficult and risky.
