Nebraska probably had 5 of the 7 best RBs in the Big 8 that year. Ahman and LP were easily the 2 best. Troy Davis put up 2000 yards but had 2.5x the amount of carries that Ahman did. If LP could have kept his head straight, it would have been a runaway Heisman win. Childs, Benning, and Sims would have started anywhere else other than ISU or OSU and had conference honors.

Greatest team ever. Just like the title says. The 2001 Miami Hurricanes were probably the second best. While no team produced more professional players than the Canes, the collective power of this team was unassailable. More power in the offensive and defensive lines than any team ever. And there is no question the 95 Huskers were deeper over all. When you analyze the greatness of a team, forget the number of pro players produced. The overall product is the overriding factor. Nebraska beat 13 opponent by an average margin of 53-14. They crushed their ranked opponents during that five year period by a margin of 39-14! The ultimate barometer of their power was the 62-24 dismemberment of Florida in the Fiesta Bowl. No bowl pasting in college history could match this ass whipping. Even the 2001 Canes fall short in their overall resume. There are many great teams. Only one Bell cow. The 1995 Nebraska Cornhuskers. THE GOAT TEAM OF COLLEGE FOOTBALL.

@@P84y What separated Nebraska from every team I've ever seen was how insanely deep they were. While some teams may have produced more pros, the Cornhuskers had more good players than ANY team. They could go deeper into their bench than any team ever assembled. The Michigan team that won the title this season would have their lunch eaten by that bunch. And their breakfast and dinner too. Best team ever. Easy peasy, lemon squeezy.

This team should be watched by any team that has to play against an option team. First, you arent going to stop it on every play. Second, defensing the option requires one to play a defense of postion, you cannot over pursue. Lastly, when making a stop, you have to wrap. You cannot hit. Florida in the 96 Fiesta Bowl had good athletes. But, they were lacking in fundamentals and they paid the price against the option. Watching the 96 Fiesta Bowl will show everything not to do against an option team as a defense
