I generally throw smaller swim baits to match the hatch in my highland res but i still throw them on an ark mag medium 7'4" casting rod. For the bigger rigs i go to my dobybs 806 SB rod. A komodo ss 200 on my ark rod and a lexa tws 300 on my dobyns.

What line are you using on the A-rig. It looks like clear mono, or fluorocarbon line. If you are, why do you choose that over braid for your A-rig?

Great stuff. First year fishing A-Rig, and you just cut my learning curve! appreciate it BL

Very detailed BILLY!!!!! Just what I needed. Have not used the A RIG but just a couple times. One reason is I don’ t have a fish finder as such, but, I will be getting one soon. My depth finder is very old and about the only thing I can get out of it is the depth and water temp. Having said that, I know of a few places from memory so I can give those a try. Thanks for your very in depth instructions!!!!

I just loaded my hog farmer down with 6th sense swim baits and swim baits heads. Think the ones i'm running are the 3/16 though

Thanks a bunch Billy for these great A-rig tips. My biggest holdup on swinging an A-rig at ANY cover and losing the rig on the 1st cast to it. Re-rigging an A-rig is not like tying on another spinnerbait!
@matthewotis3594 Жыл бұрын
Easy to lose $50 on an A rig. That's with mid range components and jig heads. I lost a flex rig with Matt Allen jig heads on it with armor shad on top and easy shiners on the rest. Maybe they were divine swim baits from 6th sense. Either way, It hurt. And I've lost half a dozen. Still do fun to fish.

You’re right. I’m new to live sonar and was shocked at how quickly the A-rig climbs. It’s hard to describe how slow you have to reel to keep it in the same plane. I’m barely reeling at all.
@deborahotis40153 жыл бұрын
Some times I can't keep it slow enough and use my pole to drag it then reel up slack.
@tagg9463 жыл бұрын
like every bait that does this, use a heavier weight, rig your bottom swimbaits with heavier jig heads than the top, or go bladeless if you can.

Can't answer for Billy but im a huge fan of big swimbaits and that is a swimbait set up he was holding. People that don't know about big bait fishing sometimes think of tiny soft paddle tails as swimbaits, in theory they are swimbaits but in this case we are talking about baits 7-12" and 4-10ozs. Usually custom garage built baits. Hope that helps you.

Isn’t it funny that they can ban a specific lure that works but, Live sonar is okay?? I’m totally cool with both methods of catching fish, what are your thoughts Billy??

Yeah I think they way over reacted and the arig should be legal

Good stuff Billy. I used to smash fish with A-rig but then it got harder when everyone was throwing them. When I was throwing it a lot I used 65lb braid. Probably need to switch over now. What type and size line are you throwing the weedless and open hook on? Thanks for all the great vids. Keep them on water videos rolling out.
