Good video. I just changed my starter yesterday on my 94 heritage. Fortunately, I didnt have to remove my oil tank. Unbolted it and slid it up and forward. Gave me the room to pull the starter.

I am getting the click click on my RK, I think is the starter and possible that. I got a push on bottom I will install it tomorrow and will also do the solenoid kit as well. My battery and engine light is turning on but the battery looks good to me.

Rear exhaust off and oil tank drained w/o disconnecting lines to install a similar kit on my '89 FXSTS. Two rear OT bracket bolts out, unbolt the module, then top nuts off the cushion studs, so no fuss with wheel, fender, or flap. My starter is fine so I didn't have to take any more off the bike. (primary cover/clutch/ compensator) Replaced the starter relay too. Hook the rear battery strap on before reinstalling the OT. btw, Duralast Gold EXT16 or EXT16L depending on model/year, but don't expect it to be strong late in its ninth year. (Battery Minder 1500 to get that, you're welcome 🙂)

Your welcome on the 1/4 inch stuff. They do fit the 10 pounds of crap in a 5 pound bag. Like me you do not have small hands and that just makes some thing worse. Yes the Evo sounds good, but I can remember the days when the older guys would talk about how the Evo didnt sound like a Harley. I mean 36 years the Pan and Shovel were the motor, the potato potato sound. The bottom line is if your starter aint working you cant hear them run. That is a lot cheaper than changing the starter. Good Video, will be waiting for the clutch follow up.

Follow up is coming and I heard back from him and he says its running awesome so I am stoked.

Are those V&H pipes? Kind of look like the Screamin Eagle 16 gauge double barrel on my Heritage

I have a 98 wide glide and I have more room would I have to remove the starter to do this or can I do it without removing the starter?
@YogisCycleService Жыл бұрын
I would recommend pulling it because it’s easier to work on off the bike.

I'm getting a grinding and clanging when I go to start my 97 flstc, I txd the last shop that worked on this problem after a quick back and forth now I'm hearing crickets?!

If it’s from the primary area check the compensator, it may be loose.

I have a 2012 dyna fat bob that won’t start. Has a new battery definitely has no security system installed , all lights go on and I can hear the fuel pump prime when I press the start button but nothing else happens. I checked all fuses and they are good. I also checked all the grounds and seems good. I’m guessing the starter might be bad. What do you suggest? Thanks
@YogisCycleService9 ай бұрын
The fuel pump runs of a different switch then the start button. Wondering if the start button itself went bad. Sounds electrical.

Or potentially a relay
@YogisCycleService9 ай бұрын
I would think if it were the starter you would still hear a relay click and see a power pulse as it was trying to send power to the starter if the starter was failing.

@@YogisCycleService Thanks for the suggestions. Here’s an update on my progress. I checked the solenoid single thin wire and had no power going to it when I pressed the starter button. So I fed power to the solenoid directly and bike started up. I’m guessing it’s the start button that is faulty. I went ahead and added a starter button directly to the solenoid and problem temporarily solved till I change the starter switch from the handle bar.
