Not blaming Kunal or the entire team of KMKH (huge fan of you guys), but please do your research before coming to a new place. Aminia is undoubtedly legendary and I understand this branch in New Market is the oldest surviving branch among its 9-10 branches in the city, but at the same time it is undoubtedly the worst branch of Aminia. I don't know how much you liked the food (particularly the biryani), but I can guarantee you that most of its other branches serve brilliant biryani (far better than the one you had). Next time you visit Kolkata and wanna try Aminia, do go to their better branches like Golpark, Chinar Park, Behala or Shyam Bazar. And also just to let you guys know, the best biryani places in Kolkata (serving authentic Kolkata style biryani) apart from Aminia are - India Restaurant in Khidirpur, Arsalan (multiple branches, best ones are the Park Circus and Hatibagan branch), Zam Zam (Park Circus), and the forever iconic, and my all-time favourite Royal Indian Hotel in Bara Bazar.

Aminiya original restaurant, as the owner says, was in Zakaria Street, just opposite to the main entrance of the Nakhoda Majid; it has closed down about 5/6 years back. It was rustic and served beef alongwith mutton and chicken but the taste and flavour was far superior to the New Market outlet, consistently. Have been to the New Market outlet from my childhood and discovered the Zakaria St one in my college days. All these places hold the great legacy of Calcutta in bits and pieces.

Aminia Restaurant, New Market has been my favourite since 1980s. It's my personal favourite. Many wonderful memories of going there with my family especially with my Mother during her New Market shopping trips. I agree with you Hrichik. I am an old Calcuttan who had never tasted anything from Aminia until today. Thanks to you Kunal Vijayakar, it was the worst choice of restaurant. The mutton Rezala and the Mutton masala looked good. But that was it. They were singularly devoid of any flavour whatsoever. The Biryani was at least flavourful but the meat was tough and fibrous. In a nutshell, Aminia was a mistake and I don't see myself coming back to it in a hurry! Hope the folks in Aminia read the comments and take heed. All the best and a Very Happy New to you all.

Aminia Biryani is very light but if you want a heavy Biryani with a bucket load of flavors and the best damn piece of juiciest meat in Bengal then I would suggest you try Dada Boudi style Biryani. Dada Boudi Biryani is much better than Aminia or Asalan any day.

Best biryani at present in Arsalan it's worth a try. But if you talk about biryani even very ordinary hotels will give you tasteful biryani dishes reason the preparation of Kolkata biryani is very different from any other metropolitan cities in India not to miss the potatoes taste in biryani I've seen people from all all other places praising the taste of potatoes.

any foodie will tell you...this does not look like bread pudding (~11:26). You should try bread pudding in the US and it's buttery and feels like bread soaked in cream (with vanilla essence and cinnamon) and baked at 350F. Kuch bhi khilate hain log!
