What's so good about the NEO VVL head vs a DET head?
Footage is a small cut from this full interview: • [TECH TOUR] 43 PSI 950...
Sporting 950 WHP @ 43 PSI of boost and an 8.54 @ 164 MPH ¼ mile history, this 4WD converted 2.2L Nissan S13 Silvia is one of a kind and unbelievably still street legal! We caught up with Paul Torony of PJs Quick Bits at the 2017 World Time Attack Challenge to go over this weapon.
Converted to 4WD with street drivability in mind it runs Nissan Skyline GT-R front differential and driveshafts via an RB26 sump and adaptor plates. The car also uses the ATTESA system from the GT-R where a centre differential splits the torque and is adjustable via a Full-Race Motorsports ETS-Pro controller setup. The main brain of the operation is a Haltech Elite 2500 which controls the amount of boost the Precision 7675 Sportsman Gen2 turbo produces according to speed which can easily be adjusted via a Turbosmart E-Boost controller from the driver's seat to match conditions and/or preferences.
The SR20 engine has been built to last with a forged bottom end, Kelford cam, 2.2L Brian Crower Stroker kit, NEO VVL head from a Nissan Primera P12, CP-Carrillo rods and thick wall pistons and a custom Billet CNC block. The power produced makes its way to the ground via an OS Giken OS-88 6 speed sequential gearbox which is helped by a Geartronics flat shift box.

I remember when 950 horsepower could only be seen in a massive turbo Supra or a gnarly V8. Now they’re making that in a little 4-cylinder that sees a lot of something called “killawmuters” on the street. Knowing you’re Australian, I’m guessing the Killawmuter is a venomous creature with a bad attitude.

They are from New Zealand. This makes their knowledge of venomous creatures limited to stories their grandads brought back from training with us in the war... There's basically nothing deadly in NZ that wasn't introduced

What is the idea behind dual 4-port solenoids for boost controlling? Does this give any advantage compared to single solenoid plumbing?

@@SR22VET-S15 Unfortunately quoting power levels as airflow on a forced induction engine doesn't mean anything, you can always just force more boost through it. Airflow (preferably in cfm) and cross sectional area are where it's at, with those two you can calculate the engine's characteristics pretty effectively Port velocity (proportional to rpm and inversely proportional to port cross sectional area) is almost as important as cfm, it can (assuming correct cam timing) give you as much extra power/torque as another 2-3psi.

Why does everyone shit on VTEC when the dual lobe technology was actually created by them and everyone copied it. Give it a little more respect. without that sort of tech your motor is only good in either low or high rpm

@@holeshot282 Ive seen those before. From what a remember hearing, they make great parts. I know Drag Cartel had/had been fucking up this last year+ with some of there Cams and other products and intern they lost alot of fans/customers/etc). Since they seemed to always have great performance parts that were "affordable" for what they could do/handle. o\On top of that, they had a huge influence in the Racing scene. Idk, if they changed their manufacturing process or or their Quality Control took a shit, idk. Im not even sure how they are still doing and if there place in the racing scene is still lower or if they've grown. A lot of other great companies have come since them and are making great products. Motion Raceworks for an example. But any who, Thanks for he reply, Brother. Have a good one.
