It's been said many times before, but the lock the engineers design, is likely very different than the final product after it goes through production price cuts by the higher-ups. So the engineers probably just laugh at their stupid bosses, knowing their lock wouldn't have been beaten so easily.

He is a great picker for sure, but he is not a locksmith. What you want is something simple, which is why all the abloy padlocks are great. Just a chunk of solid hardened steel with a dual ball bearing locking mechanism. Most locks companies tend to overdo themself which ultimatley kills them in the end, take masterlock for instance.

Okay, now I'm pretty sure that Proven is using bogus accounts in these comments... anyone know how to verify what businesses post on their websites as "customer reviews?" Obviously Amazon or eBay verify everything, but if it's on a website like Proven's (a private website), how do you know those reviews are for real? Look at the responses in this one comment thread... Bart Simpson and Jason Black exhibit significant similarities in how they write things compared to the Proven Industries account.

This is interesting because I would expect the lock companies know and understand their flaws and they line up on a spreadsheet that puts those flaws up against cost and expected use. That said, I wonder if this seemingly negative exposure isn't more likely perception mining. Maybe just having the brand name appear on a high frequency hit from youtube also boosts their search engine results. Hard to know for sure but it is Interesting. Regardless of intent, I'm glad that companies look to experts in the field to test and allow it on public terms so I can make an informed decision.

LPL does not truly endorse any lock. If you pay close enough attention you realise a few things. All locks can be picked. Just a matter of how long it takes. All locks can be broken via heat, force, etc. Again just a matter of the time. Even if you find a lock that is pick proof and break in proof, the thing the lock is attached to can be cut instead. So what DOES LPL suggest for security? Well let's say it is no coincidence he is also a gun enthusiast. Locks keep honest people out. Guns keep dishonest people out.

It’s unbelievable they would put out a product where you have to first lock it, then shake/twist the key several times inside the lock to, you know, actually lock the thing. If there’s no visual, audible, or tactile feedback ala a typical padlock, you end up with the Schrodinger’s cat of locks. It’s the first lock ever that’s simultaneously both locked and not locked. Like the cat, there’s no way to know for sure if it’s dead without opening the box - here, trying to pry the core loose.

Neither I nor PACLOCK had nothing to do with this lock ~ even LPL says it himself that it came from someone in Texas. To say that I said something and then "it was confirmed by Greg at paclock" is a downright lie because I am Greg at PACLOCK. You and Ron should really talk to each other before you post because it just makes Proven look even worse than you do today. And you guys still haven't learned about your unqualified country of origin claims... this is not an "American product"... it is a product that is "Made in the USA with global components" at best.

@@provenindustries8236 I don't know how to respond simply because this comment is nonsensical. You post that you use Medeco cores... yet Ron's call today says that "he's thinking of using Medeco." Hmmmm... and once again Ron was asking me for my opinion on what he should do. I'm no longer helping Ron run his business and tell him what to watch out for, he seemed a bit sad by that today but my not helping Proven anymore shouldn't be unexpected. I've never claimed "Made in USA" on any products there are not "all or virtually all Made in the USA." That's an unqualified claim and PACLOCK doesn't do unqualified claims. If we have somewhere, please let me know.

I've seen these locks set to lock doors but they have a metal 'frame' around them which would make using that device very difficult. Is it vulnerable when up against a wall/door where movement or access to the lock is physically restricted?

Christopher Hudetz I believe he picked it just to show it could be done. If this lock was actually in place, protecting something, you’d just spend 30 seconds with a portable drill and open it.

I've been marathoning this channel, and from what I've found, a lock is worth considering if it takes him a minute or more to pick it. It's worth using if it can also stand up to bonesaws and blunt force. Not sure where I can go to see nonincriminating recommendations in that category.

I would make a shim out of the thickest feeler gauge that fits, cut it in a shape so that jiggling and pulling would retract the locking mechanism. But in 2:30, it is visible how hard the spring is, so this might be not possible in the end.

the lock body should act as a good heat sink maybe spreading the heat so it will take longer to melt the core however a torch to the core may melt it. also depending on the position of the core when the lock is on the property the molten zinc could puddle up inside of the lock binding the shackle or could run out and the core would drop out

@paclockpres.9805
@paclockpres.9805 5 жыл бұрын
@@cb7172 Totally with you! That pop-up locking-lug actually locks into the "sleeve" (the round tube thing) and then it also needs to be able to lock into the padlock body itself. So you're right, if you can find a way to get that lug to move down enough, it would first come out of the body and, ultimately, out of the sleeve itself. Even Medeco and Abloy cores (of this type) are the same way... spring loaded. We have all of them here as we use them to test the locks coming off our machines for Cobra. I still think it would be a bit tricky to get that attack to work thought if the lock is made right...

Was thinking the same, a suitable wide shimstock with an cut a bit in on one side, add some electrical tape to the end for grips (or maybe use a plier), slide in past the lug, jiggle to the side, pull out.
