LPL does not truly endorse any lock. If you pay close enough attention you realise a few things. All locks can be picked. Just a matter of how long it takes. Hey I am a big fan of your work on KZbin and I need advice on a lock purchase. Knowing that TSA locks are bad and combination not much better what is best to lock a backpack?
@gungadinn5 жыл бұрын
LPL, the length of the legs on your pick would preclude it's use on this lock when installed on a door. I'd still like seeing you pick locks in the position that would be found in service.

Having seen your drilling attack on this as well, I’d love to see you try to melt the core

can you start picking them attached to whatever they are supposed to protect. its probably harder if you can't hold it in every direction. like motorcycle locks should be picked when they are chained to something.

Feels like I'm being taught lock picking by the Doctor from Star Trek: Voyager.

Probably you can shim it with a special (hooked) shim. However the turning and pulling with a tension bar and opening the lock baffles me 😳
@cb71725 жыл бұрын
Would it be possible to get some kind of shim/ hook around the core to disable the locking lug?
@paclockpres.98055 жыл бұрын
It would be kind of tricky as long as the core/lug was properly locked. They are spring loaded for sure, but the springs tend to be pretty tight.

I wondered the same thing, and found this comment before I posted.

@@paclockpres.9805 thanks for the reply. I imagine with a properly built lock it would be very difficult. I was curious in this case because LPL said there was slop in the core then he pushed the lug down with his thumbnail
@paclockpres.98055 жыл бұрын
@@cb7172 Totally with you! That pop-up locking-lug actually locks into the "sleeve" (the round tube thing) and then it also needs to be able to lock into the padlock body itself. So you're right, if you can find a way to get that lug to move down enough, it would first come out of the body and, ultimately, out of the sleeve itself. Even Medeco and Abloy cores (of this type) are the same way... spring loaded. We have all of them here as we use them to test the locks coming off our machines for Cobra. I still think it would be a bit tricky to get that attack to work thought if the lock is made right...
@konzetsu60685 жыл бұрын
Was thinking the same, a suitable wide shimstock with an cut a bit in on one side, add some electrical tape to the end for grips (or maybe use a plier), slide in past the lug, jiggle to the side, pull out.

Would be interesting to see what happens with a torch on this lock. The amount of SS surrounding the zinc alloy might be enough to dissipate the heat, or not.

You have shattered my concept of security. Whats the point of buying a lock any Joe can pick, or are you da bestest picker! Like damn...I guess my dad's giant old 1842 Wells Fargo safe setting in my garage is easily picked??? But it sure looks cool.

I don't know why I like to watch these types of videos. All I've learned so far is that locks are for keeping honest people honest. None of them are safe from a crook.

Could you slide a thin piece of metal shaped like a Jim above the core and trip the door latch like locking pawl? It seems like it would be possible if there is much of a gap between the core and lock body.

@paclockpres.98055 жыл бұрын
I'll bet you lunch that Ron (the owner) not only didn't watch the video, but didn't even realize that what he was doing was just copying a Chinese lock design that had security flaws. Whereas PACLOCK fixed all of those flaws for Cobra, Proven just copied them and figured he'd pull in bank.

It is possible the prototypes didn't do that. Stacking tolerances are a bitch.
