I have a 2 door 58 Chevy Delray. The models for the fullsize 58's were as follows : Impala was at the top of the line, then Bel-Air, then Biscayne and the base model was the Delray, but the Delray is still more rare than Impala.

That is some good info to have. I have deinitely seen a lot of the other models but a first for the Delray. The two door would be way cooler though. Thanks. Stevo

Hay Stevo, I'm just an old guy but my very first car was a 1958 Delray bought for 50 bucks out of a junk yard. The 58 was a single year bady style great cruser. I'm very fortunate to have aquired another one brings back old memories. Thanks for the video great to see the past still alive.

That is a pretty classy car for your first ride. I was impressed on how much style it really had. The ride on a car that big must have been smooth. Glad to see that you have found another one. Thanks. Stevo

It did not matter what name was on the car back then, they all had some sort of wing on the back. When I was young, my dad had a couple of 59 caddies, the last of the big fin. Maybe that is why I like them. Thanks. Stevo

I've always liked the styling of those 58 Chevy's. My Parents friends had one & I had a lot of trips with them in it. They never got the status they deserved like the Year before. Oh How I miss seeing those nice lines of Vehicles back then over present ones.

From the lack of a Vee emblem on the hood and trunk lid this car had a six cylinder engine under the hood , and be glad that whoever put the V8 in there switched it over from the generator to an alternator .
@stevoj8959
@stevoj8959 Жыл бұрын
You could be right on the engine. I don't know the history on this car but if I blew up my six cylinder I would replace it with a V8. I know the hub caps were either from a newer model or a year previous. It is still a cool car. Having an alternator is a big plus and we convert almost all the cars we are working on. Thanks for tuning in. Stevo

@@billsteinly8105 even the Delray's were red and white, with a blue bowtie in the center . After twenty or thirty years of exposure to the sun the red may have looked / faded to gray , but the red , white and blue scheme was part of Chevrolet's USA-1 theme .

My older brother had one, that more Navy blue. I think the color was called fathom blue. I drove it to school, and probably drove the car more than he did, because he was in the Navy. I loved the car, but it only had the 283, stick on the floor.

1958 was the peak year for the use of chrome on US made cars. It was pretty standard across the board for just about everything that year. Take a look at the 58 Buicks

The chrome is what made these cars so iconic. We had a 59 Caddy and if one was to redo the chrome on that it would cost 20 thousand at least. I am a big chrome fan. Cars are not like they use to be. Thanks. Stevo
