I'm the UK and I have ordered from Sparrows website a few times in fact last week I ordered the item Bills currently reviewing. I am not affiliated at all with Sparrows or BosnianBill I just appreciate what they have to offer, I am also probably a very picky customer (No pun intended) I can not rate Sparrows highly enough, I had one problem with an order and the customer service was outstanding. Shipping rates very reasonable. I use Paypal for payment and I will continue to use Sparrows before any other vendor. I judge a company on when things go wrong, Sparrows products have been good quality and prices that wont break the bank and 1st class customer services. Postage times can vary this is out of the control of Sparrows one order I got in 5 days and another took 3 weeks but I always get my items and its always been worth the wait. Thanks to Bill yet again....

A very detailed and great video. The extra work of cutting the lock to show the pinning just shows the extra mile you go to in fully explaining the work at hand. Very nice. Thank you.

Big thanks. I got the progressive locks last month and this month need this repinning kit, to get more out of those locks. Big thanks for the demo of how to use it. Without this video, I would have pulled that key out and launched everything, almost certainly. The progressive locks were prettier in 2016 than they are now.

If I don't win it I'm definitely buying that reload kit! Did my first repin no more than a hour ago and used a towel because I don't have any proper gear. Thank you for bringing this awesome set to my attention.
@seniormgtow74788 жыл бұрын
Daddypants11 That was very "inventive" to use the towel. The main purpose is to control "loose" items, "springy" parts and all necessary small tools. I used a hard desk to begin with and like Bill said, Parts like to jump out on you. Later I put a piece of trim molding around my work bench to help run aways.

Great video on repinning on the fly! Bill, you keep doing videos like these and it's going to make my search for an apprentice who already knows the basics a LOT easier. I love those two small mats (perfect size for a mobile locksmith working out of a smaller vehicle instead of the traditional van, one who likes to (or has to) repin door by door, or for someone who just doesn't have a lot of dedicated space for a larger mat on their bench) In fact they'll fit perfectly in the "tools drawer / space" found in a lot of the smaller pin kits. Sparrow's really thought this kit through, especially adding extra cylinder cap retention pins and ESPECIALLY retention pin springs (because, OH YES folks... they DO tend to go bye bye from time to time, no matter how careful you are or how often you've done it, so it ALWAYS pays to have extras) The progressions seem pretty fair representations of typical pin arrangements and how they can complicate raking or picking, and the Schlage C keyway is a pretty good one to learn on (not as wide open as Kwikset, not as tight as others, a good "middle of the road" intro to picking... Something I'd like to see from the Sparrows kit are tailpieces included, either with the basic cylinders or the refill kit... as especially when figuring out if raking will do the trick to get an unlock, they can make a bit difference in what you can reach on the #5 and #6 chambers with a lot of rakes.

Love the design of this Sparrows Reload Kit. Nice to see they're taking note of what we're all saying too on the forums etc. This kit looks like a bargain with all the additional springs and different pins too. Couldn't be more pleased to see this product 😁 Must order mine asap. Thanks Bill and Thanks Sparrows too. 😀👍
@seniormgtow74788 жыл бұрын
Bill A suggestion I have noticed. Put a piece of trim molding around the edge of your work bench to contain "Run Aways." Once you learn the small height difference of the molding, with vices and other tools you put on your bench, it becomes second nature. It doesn't stop the sproings though.

A well explained and demonstrated video, Bill. Since the cores are not blocked, as far as the pin holes go, can see all the possible pin positioning for the 2 and 3 pin cores. At those prices, this is one heck of a package. Now, about their version of bacon.

I've went to their site several times, and even added stuff to my cart a few times and have yet to actually pull the trigger. This has made the decision for me. I've been scrounging up locks lately with various security pins to work with, so this will be perfect!

I reloaded my first one last night. Since the two pin of the progressive set is too easy now. I reloaded it with the 5 pin green key. I will soon reload the 3 and 4 pin ones also. While I am very impressed with with the reload kit for the price, I would like to have better springs. The springs are not tall enough for the large solid brass set I got. But I will get there. Thank you for the great video. Helped me a lot.

Pretty good guide, bill. Just a couple things you missed that can really make a big difference. The first is pretty simple: always grab your pins (and springs, if necessary) as close to the 'top' as possible. This lets you set them nice and deep in the chambers and they'll grab the lip better when you press the follower against them. Second, most locksmiths I've worked with will tell you to split the work of filling the bible - three pins from the front of the lock, working forwards, and three pins from the back, working backwards (or two in the front/back or four or whatever, depending on how many pins). This also gets you into the mindset of remembering which chambers are which (for locks where it matters), which side of the lock is which, manipulating the follower back and forth without dropping anything, etc. If you're not getting into locksmithing this is obviously less necessary, but it is a lot easier to work only three or four pins in instead of trying to reach all the way through the entire cylinder to drop in those fifth, sixth and seventh pins.

I was going to order some Sparrow products, including this reload kit. But living in Japan I got directed to a different site. Of course shipping increased, that was expected. But there were two additional charges for PST and GST(???). But the shocker was that in addition to these charges, the base prices of the products were jacked up by 20~25%. Very disappointing.

After you're done with that 2 pin lock key it would be very easy to file those 2 peaks down to make a bump key. It would probably work for the other (3,4,5 pin) keys as well

Hi Bill, love all your videos. I'm new to lock picking, but I was always curious as a child. I've picked a few doors and some combination bike locks as a kid but nothing to brag home about. After watching you, I've been inspired to learn more about this fascinating skill. I've purchased this kit as well as many other picks and rakes. I even bought the updated practice locks. To use the security pins from this set, I'm assuming you would use any of the keys and instead of a standard driver pin, it would be whatever security pin I want to practice with, right?
