97 F350 Brake Controller Install

I have the exact same setup as you and wiring. I went to install the tekonsha harness and everything lined up the same. Plugged into p3 controller, and no power. Traced wires back and everything looks good, so Im stumped. I have an additional brown wire for illumination that is not being used. Where does your brown wire tie into?

I have a 92 F350 and not sure where my wires are. I have a 7 pin in the rear, but no controller in the truck. Could you provide some insight into where it would be?

The 7 pin in the rear is probably just run off of your tail lights. The brake controller is installed using its own harness and the brake light wire from the pedal per the instructions it comes with. You’ll then run your own wire back to the 7 pin.

@@CountyLineGarage It was used by the previous owner with a horse trailer. I can't find the plug in port I've seen under the ashtray, but it does have four wires coming from under it. One is red, blue, white, and green. it previously had one installed I'm thinking, but they took the controller before selling. I don't think it is an OEM setup. I'm just wondering if those are the wires I should use?

@@aegiscaleb do you have a controller to install yet? What I would do is start tracing wires to where they go. If I remember correctly, the controller will have a power going to battery, ground, trigger going to brake light switch, and output going to the 7pin. Trace those 4 wires you have and make sure that’s where they all go then label each one. When you go to wire in your new controller all you’ll have to do is connect using those labeled wires instead of running all new.

@@CountyLineGarage Yeah I've got a Reese controller already. Haven't tried tracing the wires yet, but figured I would have to. Thanks for the insight. Really appreciate it
