I need to do this on my 08 Buick Lacrosse Super and I was quoted $2000 for 10 hours of labor and parts. Thing is so hard to get to I wish I could just pull the engine and do it exactly like this because I'm not sure how you can get to it otherwise? I seen a video where someone was able to get to it by taking the passenger tire off but man Im so stressed about this thing.

Super dad helping the kid. Those wheels don't have to roll, just push dirt. On a 3.5, too much in way up top, had to take splash shield off and do everything from below. Upper front bolt awful, but electrical taped 1/4" 8mm socket to bolt to install with 1/4" ratchet, worked well. Don't know why 1/4" ratchet was too short to get that bolt out, maybe just not being able to see it, but helper from top unscrewed it once loosened. A 3/8 socket will bind against frame of car....nightmare, need a pick to flip direction...twice!

What is the secret to getting more speed out of these mowers? I'm not asking about high speed but just a faster moving mower? (I'm still watching the video...typing while the commercial plays through....) tHanks

@CountyLineGarage5 ай бұрын
It really all depends on what you have and what you want to do with it. If you’re still utilizing it as an actual mower I wouldn’t suggest messing with the speeds as it could become a safety concern. If you’ve removed the mower deck and are looking for a bit more travel speed, the drive pulley combination is a good place to start. Keep in mind all of the parts on a riding mower are built with less than 10 mph speeds in mind. The spindles, wheels, tires, steering, etc. all become very unstable at speeds greater than factory.
@Dancing_Alone_wRentals5 ай бұрын
tHanks @@CountyLineGarage . I would like to make a slow go-kart. Looks are more important than speed. Riding mowers are to slow for me to use...I have about three or four of them but I rely on walk behind mowers for cutting. It would be fun to convert a riding mower into something that could go in parades...Parades move at a crawl but appearance is important. tHanks again for the videos!

That is a interesting lathe in that there appears to be no apron rack and only a lead screw for carriage movement. many budget machines have this feature. For free that is a really good lathe or seems to be and looks extremely solid for its size. I have not even seen this brand before but I would use it in a pinch for sure.
@CountyLineGarage5 ай бұрын
Yeah it only has a threading feed, all of the extra gears for whatever pitch thread I want to cut. Certainly not a very capable machine but like you said I couldn’t pass it up for free lol. I’ll have a good lathe and mill some day!
