Good luck and have patience. I have owned my 97 4x4 Ranger since new and its a great truck has 357,000 miles on it "BUT" Ford must be owned by Snap On tool because you need every tool in the box to work on them. My truck had front end damage 15 yrs ago and still have trouble finding the lower valence with fog lights everybody says they have it but its not like my original? Head light adjustment/alignment is like herding cats "IT AIN'T FUN". Some parts are different between XLT XL & SPLASH. Happy Wrenching!

Your not the only one doing a ranger nose swap. I took off the original 1986 nose after a deer slightly pretzeled the corner of the bumper. And installed an entire 1990 nose on my beater ranger hot rod. Looks waaay better now.

Excellent, question,the hood latch cable, does it go from the latch through the core support behind the radiator,behind the battery . Yes??. I can't seem to find a good illustration anywhere. Thanks

Why not change the core support so the latch landed in the right spot and not do hood pins?

The only thing that I had available was the header panel and the front end parts so I just made it all work

That's my 1997 Ford Ranger all right. Same dish mag wheels. Same toreador red metallic paint that doesn't look more than 15 years old. I put some fat, high performace Cooper tires on it that look great with the wheels. Get compliments on it all the time from people walking by and even notes on the door from people wanting to buy. It' got a seven foot bed, which is great for occasionally hauling. All this and 52K miles (I inerited the Truck from my 80 year old aunt). Factor in low registration fees for a vehicle that old and the fact that the only insurance I carry is the liability for injury and damage to another driver, this vehicle is very cheap to drive. I'll keep the truck until is doesn't run anymore.

I actually used the 97 brackets off the old bumper and welded them to the top of the 2001 front bumper I have a 2006 bumper I will be putting on and making a video soon
