Just made the best purchase I’ve made in a long time. I came into a 97’ TJ after watching it sit and decay for two years. Contacted the owner 3 times over 2 year and he finally caved! He sold it to me for $750! I threw a new battery in it, aired up the tires and drove that thing home. It had the death wobble but I got that corrected right away... needless to say, I saved it from the crusher. It need some love but it’s gonna get plenty from me. I’ve wanted a wrangler since I was 16, I’m now 43 and I’ve finally got me one! I live in Michigan and I’m a subscriber.. great channel, keep the vids coming. I need to learn how to do what you are doing to your TJ

I'm so used to those chinese iron things cracking that I'm surprised that you just assumed it was the gasket and loose bolt and not a hidden crack on the head side. As I recall, I don't even think my original had a gasket.

I’ve been meaning to start this project on my TJ as well. But I’m missing two of the bolts / studs that hold the exhaust manifold on. Any ideas where to get replacements? Can’t seem to find anything at auto parts stores or rock auto.
@ForceBuilt4 жыл бұрын
So you need the 2 studs on each end. I would get this kit just for the studs I I were in a bind. Here is what I have found. shop.advanceautoparts.com/p/dorman-help-exhaust-manifold-hardware-kit-03408b/10422262-p?c3ch=PLA&c3nid=10422262-P&adtype=pla_with_promotion&product_channel=online&store_code=&gclid=Cj0KCQiA0MD_BRCTARIsADXoopaFFn504RU5f5Gj0AvBhZar2NCpcnwf1tTgs_MpvZyIhg_yXeSLo8waAjQQEALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds Thanks!

Hello Steve, I have a 00’ TJ with a 2.5 and we have talked before about my intake leak. My manifold bolts were loose so I was getting the head cleaned up and chased all the threads in the head and just realized the dowel pins were missing. How important are they for keeping everything located and tight you think. Have not been able to find any online hopefully they are available from the dealer. Thanks for any suggestions
@ForceBuilt3 жыл бұрын
I think they are only there to help you get everything put together. Like to keep the gasket in place while installing manifold and intake. If you get it assembled then no dowels needed. Just make sure everything is good and tight. Hope this helped!
@Manandmachine7723 жыл бұрын
Yes and Thanks, I am going to try and get them from the dealer. I really want to eliminate this leak. Thanks

What manifold did you purchase? Did it fit well I looked for a video on it but didn’t see it. Looks like I need a new manifold and gasket on my 98
@ForceBuilt3 жыл бұрын
I just bought a cheap one off Ebay($46). This was early on and I didn't make a video of it. Worked well until I had a bolt vibrate out in the center location. When that happened the manifold warped from heat escaping, making it leak even when I installed a new gasket. I took the manifold off and sanded it flat on a belt sander(To remove the warp) and it has been perfect ever since! I really wish I had made a video of that process but I needed to get it done and it was getting dark. Hope this answers your question. Thanks!

I don't know why that would be happening. When Taking apart and putting together you have to mess with the throttle linkage. I bet you have something installed wrong. Check it closely. Send pics to my email if you don't get it figured out. futuraforce@gmail.com
