Great interview. I am 68. Both my maternal and paternal grandparents were first generation Indo-Trinidadians born from indentured labourers brought from India. Trinidad & Tobago. West Indies.

As an Indian from India, I’m grateful to you for having recorded this part of the history of our people - the ravages of Brutish colonialism have left their mark on thousands the world over. The looting and pillaging of India by the Brutish, reduced Mughal India, the world’s richest country, to the poorest country on earth by the time they were driven out in 1947. The poverty stricken people taken into indentured labour are the result of Brutish avarice and cruelty. Forbidden by colonial design, to grow crops for food, but compelled instead to grow opium and indigo for Brutish profit, they were easily lured into the snares of Indentured Labour, under the guise of “a better life” abroad.

Mera Naam Veer Shervendra Singh Hai I'm a relative of the original indentured labourer across 161 countries which due to the men in black most indentured labourers do not remember and Europe still keeps our buildings till today😎🤣🥰😋. Jai ram g . Look after my grandchildren well one day I will be back . Thank you for your service . I actually wanted to come back but everytime my kindness got me into trouble brokeness or stuck trusting dishonorable men , thank you for nominating Ranjeet Singh he made it to Fiji and is now in New Zealand I think sorry for this it was his choice for the core .indie I spent a lot of time cutting them up in hospitals for science before madness took me another time and somehow I ended up cousin to my son's , and two less sisters before my arrival .my grandfather is the right heir to the throne Bans Raj I thought he was phantom from PNG and the king's brother or friend funny things happened to good white n indian n french people that changed colour .time was shifty something's was happening as we was transitioning into auto and I made as president of Fiji many many times not recorded in the history books they still have photos of my friends and they said my mother took them but not sure . I was pressured for Incan gold gates which was a door into another world hidden in Brazil I couldn't find it and met opposition the Pacific and New Zealand objected and brought me back .I should have stayed in my 52 something castles I left behind now all state .

wow. very wise man. Is that all you have with this soul..? I hope you took the opportunity to get more of him on film. Remember people, we didn't make anything. God made everything. Even our children are creations of god, that are passed thru us. And though they pass thru us, they are not ours. We did not make them. They are god's children, for us to love and take care of. There are so many questions I have for him. I want to hear the stories HIS dad told him as he was growing up.

Recently I’ve been watching a lot of videos about this and it’s kind of hitting me hard because I would like to know where my great grandparents were from. These people we forget after a certain generation. I’m just curious these days. Fascinating video and I love hearing these stories. It’s crazy to think, we use to live across the street where providence stadium is right now and I remember when I was small that was all cane field 😢

Aaah yes, time brings so many changes. I look at my own village and it's bittersweet. Gone are the Tasker trucks that jolted us out of bed, the smell of burning cane, the black dust that collected in corners of our porch , the early morning crop dusters etc. I feel fortunate to have been able to experience that. Not as much as the older generation of course. What were your great grandparents' names?

@@karendass well, I don’t know much about my great grandparents. I know my great grandmother name was Jamiran. I remember her being very old, this was around late 80’s. ( I was only 7-8). She passed away in 91. I don’t remember her. My grandfather passed away in 95 at 64.

@@Mailman_mo I realize that most of us do not actually have information about our grandparents, great grandparents etc. so a lot of our history is lost forever and this makes it hard for the next generation because you can't appreciate something you don't know.

My grandfather was from India and went to Guyana as an indentured labour. So sad he died when my dad was only 9 years old. The little I know was he did not had relatives when he came , all relatives were adopted on his journey . Most of these relatives were Muslims,and he was Hindu. He was spoken and could read Hindi well. Wish I knew more about him.

Beautifully made video, my compliments. Indo-Caribbean history and culture has been fascinating me for many years. Here in India we still have the 'Panchayat' system of governance in villages. Urban areas have municipal corporations, rural areas have panchayats. But it's more sophisticated now than 'a group of 5 people' :)

I am 40 Nd my dad was an indenture labourer his parents came between 1900 -1910 family of 3boys 2 girls my dad said they use to work everyday long hrs and before his evening meal he would drink 2 cups of water just to feel full .then he said they would eventually start to get paid and so they saved in the meanwhile they worked they were given the land that they were living on they bought s sawmill with all the brothers and then they worked there saved bought another one and another one then they branched ways and we're always in tough visiting gng to mosque . . BTW at the time I was born my dad was in is early 60 he passed away when I was 16 I never had a change to say goodbye . Because of jealousy and hate and greed for wealth
