It's a must say this locks can give two to three 360° turns before opening. So even if a rake attack they would withstand over a minute and a half to open the door. Some brazilians put two of these on the door (high and low) so you couldn't open it fast by kicking it. That said, you're faster drilling the unprotected core to getting in

So I got the lockpicking set your channel inspired me to get and since then I have successfully popped open some Masterlocks, a few cabinet locks, AND the key backup on a First Alert safe (two years ago I lost the key to that safe and the keypad battery was dead so I had to go through a whole big song and dance with the manufacturer involving notarized sworn statements of lawful possession to access it again so it was really funny to get it open). The more difficult locks take me up to five minutes though and sometimes I'm at a loss as to why, precisely, one attempt might fail and one attempt will succeed, but I'm getting better. The types of locks I'm having the most trouble with currently are some gun locks - I've yet to get any open once. Very tiny keyways and they will grab on to the pick the instant any tension is supplied and prevent any further manipulation of the pick. So I suck at it still and have a lot to learn. It's tons of fun and extremely satisifying when that lock you've been having trouble with clicks over and I'm looking forward to getting better!

Just because he can rake it in 5 seconds doesn't mean anyone can. On the contrary, I bet most people couldn't even rake it open in 5 minutes. Thing I'm lying? Go try to rake a master lock and see how long it takes you before you can consistently open a Master lick with a rake. Now let's consistently open it in 10 seconds. Its not nearly as simple as he makes it seem. Look at the difference between LPL' s vids and BosnianBill. Bill has many 10+ minute videos of him picking locks. Some even 20 minutes. But you won't find that with LPL. We get 5 minutes or less.

TheFriskySquid And windows here in Brazil are always barred, unlike over in the US. Also, the video is not honest in the amount of time it takes to actually open the lock, as it relocks and you must repeat the attacks several times, as mentioned. There should be an added minute or 2 of video time - making these locks considerably safer then the average shown in this channel, especially if you have more than one on the same door like i do (it’s common to have a main lock and 2 of these) and if you have a Tetra chave like the Miguel, which won’t allow a lockpicker to place tension like in the video due to having pins on all 4 sides.

One at the usual place, one at knee height and one at head height (the idea is that you would lock only the main one when somebody is still at home and lock all three when travelling or if nobody's at home or even during the night, depending on where you live). I have something similar, but from another company called just "Brasil". I couldn't find their website. I believe they might not exist any more. The lock (called "fechadura tetra" or tetra-lock in English) has a different combination on each of the 4 sides instead of 2 like this Papaiz. I feel like buying a good quality lock picking set just to test all the lock in my home and office, then become paranoid when I see how easy it is to pick my own home...
@jakegarrett81094 жыл бұрын
They have cheaper sets for $4 to $5 for a set of 8 or 9 picks (you’ll have to make your tension bars but anything from a pop out clothes hamper to windshield wiper blades have the right size flat metal and it’s 3 seconds to bend a 90 degree bend). The kit is not designed to last 1000 lock picks though, but LPL had recommended some very similar of same brand (do note that “good quality” is like $8 to $10 per pick and that it would be a $90 pick set if it were good quality), but for dozens of locks or a hundred per pick you’ll probably be fine, you have to question if you really want to spend $100 just to test your house locks because it’s not the pick that makes the locksmith, it’s the skill... Then time yourself vs a Masterlock model 3, like if it takes 5 minutes on that but only 2 minutes on your house locks you know you’ve got a problem and should change those locks! You can find some of LPL’s product reviews (like video 347 I think it was) in his product review category (the picks I mention are better than those in that video, but that one was more of a set with tensioner and a clear visual learning tool/aid). Or you can make your own picks pretty easy out of recycled trash, I don’t see a point in spending a lot on it unless your planning to pick thousands for fun or occupation when a $12 to $20 set would be extreme overkill as it is.

It looks like a few spools and serrated pins, plus more exaggerated bitting would make this a pretty good lock. If the lock design had pins in all 4 directions rather than just three, it would not only have more pins and therefore take more time, but would also be more difficult to tension. All that and some crazier warding and this would actually be a real challenge to pick. Its a good idea for a lock, the idea just needs to be developed a little further.

He said he "loaned" it. At least he SAID that he loaned it. At least the guy's door who he took it from is going to get it back.

The last time Brasil was violated so badly was at the world cup vs Germany.......
@andersjjensen5 жыл бұрын
Strictly speaking, the Germans took freaking 90 minutes to drive it in 7 times, while LPL hit 18 targets in 15 seconds.... Will they ever recover from this? :P

I was going to suggest a Brazilian door lock. However, after I've seen this video, the flat I used to live, and office i used to work in Brazil doesn't seem as secure anymore.

These are really common in Brazil, dimple locks on the other hand, are a really rare sight.

Aim really sorry to have to do this but, which of the idiots that watched this gave thumbs down. Why would you do that? This guy is a legend. Have some respect.

Me: Less than 2 minutes. It must be a rake. LPL: *rakes the lock* Me: I knew it!!

I half expected it to open with a Phillips 3 bit.

Lasted about 10 seconds... And will re-lock every quarter turn... I call it a medium security lock, in the LPL scale of security... Jokes aside, I once called a locksmith to open one of those in my old house (forgot the keys at my parent's house) and they used a specialized tool that looked like a pen with four thin "arms" at one end and a rotating part at the back. The locksmith got it open in just a few seconds. These locks were state of the art in Brazil about 30 years ago.

Everybody praises this tetra key pattern around here. I used to have in my condo door. I then changed to a Papaiz dimple key model. Now I know all of them are super pickable eheh

Another good reason for not gutting that lock would be that it'd be a massive pain to put back together!

Proof positive that more pins or complications does not necessarily mean a better lock

I used one of these when I was living in Brasil

I am from Brazil and, i think it's important to know that the law in Brazil forbids the make, buy, sell or have in possession a lockpick (Called "gazua" here). Personally, i never hear about of any case of "lockpicking" here without the use of brute force, and i don't think thiefs in Brazil even know how to use a lockpick.

Hi. I recently bought an Oxford Boss disk brake lock for my motorcycle. Have you a video or any info on this lock? I’m glad you’re one of the good guys! Thanks Ken
