They ask questions about others you interact with especially those who they find threatening to gauge your interest in them -- they're trying to figure out your type and whether they measure up. They expect things of you they should only expect from a significant other. The questions they ask reveal a desire to understand you on a much deeper level. They will sometimes without any reason/explanation suddenly go quiet especially when alone with you as if wanting to broach the subject but not sure how to, or as if building up the courage to do so. They will sometimes say what's on their mind and quickly play it off at the first hint that they're not going to get the reaction they want.

Most women would not let you go if she was super attracted to you. I was on tinder last year and got nowhere, I decided to put up an experiment profile of a 6ft 5 extremely good looking guy on tinder and the profile got way over 100 likes and matches within just two days and women were messaging first borderline begging to meet up. I'm in this situation right now, but I suspect her hesitancy has more to do with bad past relationships and she wants to figure me out first. Yes I can confidently say that in almost 24 years on this planet, none of these things have happened to me haha. Engaging on socia media? At very best the engagement on social media are short and sweet one/two word answers to my questions and they never ask me anything back, nor has any girl ever messaged me first. At worst they block me. I could understand if I was being overly sexual but just normal conversation I don't get why. Well, I tell a lie there was one girl who used to text me first, but that was only when she needed help on a uni assignment. I just spent a week at a summer camp type thing for high schoolers and I got to know a girl from my group a little better. She was the one to always start conversations and asked me questions about what sports I play and stuff. I don't know how things have panned out for you in the last six months, but what you say is typical of a guy who wants to believe in something because, well, it's what he wants. "She asked me questions and congratulated me", girls like to appear nice and supportive because it's in their nature to do so. "It seemed like she likes me", well that's because that's what we want to believe. "She has had a boyfriend for two months", perhaps she's trying to get it out of her system or is in fact still in a relationship but wants "other options" just in case. Just think of some where to go then invite her to join you, Make sure you don't make it same day give her a few days so she doesn't feel pressured like if its Wednesday then plan something for Friday. If she asks is this a date then be bold and direct and just say yes with no explanations.

I would just not: "do you like me". I'd rather ask her, if she heard all those rumors about you two, and who knows, just maybe, what she thinks of those rumors. So you maybe don't come across as a freak, yet you proceed "factually". The chances of you getting hurt might be smaller, and the chances of her not having to go on the defensive might be bigger. A big gesture (even also just asking her to tag along, or so) might already put pressure on one or the both of you - I think you might wanna avoid that. You are here asking us about our opinion after all, so I think you're maybe not actually the outgoing, self assured guy. :) Yeah, many people meet at the work place, contrary to some here, I wouldn't make a big deal out of it. If it fits, it fits. You can start to think about the consequences later.

What if she is generally touchy with other people, but not to me (although sometimes she slips out and gave me a light slap / touch) ? Could I take that as a sign that she's acting differently because she is nervous / shy around me ? You could say that we are both good friends and I don't think I've ever creeped her out so it's definitely not a hate/disgust that she's feeling lol
