This is a product I would buy if I had to buy a gun safe. I don't have anyone uneducated about firearms or mentally unstable in my house and I live so far out in the boonies that you just don't see burglars out here. None of the reasons one might want an actual, secure gun safe apply to me, so there's no other reason for me to own one at all. This gun safe is for malicious compliance, not actual security.

My thoughts exactly. Even the worst locks need some kind of skill or at least a tool and it probably wouldn't work the very first time you try if you never picked a lock before. This is just stick something small enough in roughly the right position and its open. No special motion, special tool, nothing.

@georgesconyers9769
@georgesconyers9769 5 жыл бұрын
@@My-Pal-Hal I phrased that wrong. Im sorry. Let me explain what I mean. Most everything sold is from China, but it has to go through the respective company's quality control before being sold on store shelves or under brands operating in the market. Notice how Samsung had to recall it's phones despite the faulty batteries being made in China. Samsung didn't quality control correctly, and took the blame, legally. The internet complicates things. You can buy stuff *directly* from China. No layer of importing company, no rebranding. You get it straight from the source. Basically, if you bought this from Alibaba or a Chinese company on eBay, I *think* you're outside the protection of your country's trade laws. So you'll either need to get the Chinese company to issue a recall, or get the Chinese government to enforce certain standards on goods. As I think we're both not apart of the CCP Politiburo, or even Chinese citizens, we have nothing to protect us. We're lucky to get a refund! I'm not a lawyer here. I'm just some guy who noticed those THC vape carts that killed 8 people are illegal. From consumer safety AND the THC content AND being sold to minors. it still got sold. Not even on the dark web.
@My-Pal-Hal
@My-Pal-Hal 5 жыл бұрын
@@georgesconyers9769 I was just going by logical reason. And I know from personal experience. Things like this, are no doubt covered by eBay's customer protection though. They are pretty good with customers. Of many stories, I actually purchased some Flea Medication. It was made by BAYER. Nope. I found it to be Counterfeit months after I purchased it. May not be the same thing. But eBay returned my money, well after the basic customer care time had past. And they shut down that seller. I ALSO reported it to BAYER. And though purchased from an Unauthorized seller. They replaced the product Free TOO. Kudos to them. And beings so much IS from China. I can also say at Least a good 50-60% of the things I've purchased there over the years, I've had my money returned on. And, beings people sell for a rating, (and money) more than anything else. I've been able to just keep the items. They'd rather have 5 stars, or no rating at all. Than pay even return shipping. All the item has to do, is not match the description. I could buy crap there all day. And Never Pay for Anything. But I'm not a (total 😂) criminal. And usually report things, like mentioned above. So eBay, and others know. And part, of just being honest and decent. Not so easy nowadays. I'll tell ya this for free. But I could tell ya a couple things right off the bat, you could buy there and get Free. Bluetooth Headphones, and XHP70.2 Flashlights. SO HOW MUCH WOULD YOU PAY FOR THESE FREE ITEMS,.. BUT WAIT, THERE'S MORE 😂 Anyway, just know where you shop. But. My mention of a LAWYER. You do know who makes these videos, right 😂 ...logic and sarcasm go hand in hand. Probably why I'm good with customer care issues 🤣 Buyer Beware 🖖
@TWX1138
@TWX1138 5 жыл бұрын
@@My-Pal-Hal I have a feeling that the best you could expect is a refund on the purchase-price, and that's assuming that eBay's policies mean that _they_ issue the refund and then _they_ take it up with the merchant. If there's no recourse for them against the merchant the it may mean that there's no recourse for the buyer either, as eBay is not going to assume liability for everything that comes through their site. If they did assume that liability they'd frankly be screwed. They may attempt to _facilitate_ assistance, but it would not surprise me if that's as far as they're willing to go. As for any given product, it would not surprise me if exporters only set up shop for a limited amount of time, or are prepared to discontinue old accounts if too many problems crop up with customer complaints or refunds. An exporter of a problematic product might even just discontinue all sales of the product for a limited amount of time, and resume sales once the hubbub dies down, if they feel they can get away with that. Remember, their interest is in profit from moving product. If eBay can't accurately link problematic accounts with each other then it may be difficult to ban defective products or problematic sellers.

If it meets the letter of the laws governing these products there's nothing that can be done about it. And I'd be shocked if the people writing those laws knew enough about security to stipulate that gun safes need to be protected against this sort of attack. It's also the perfect gun safe to buy if you're not in a situation where you actually *need* the security of a proper gun safe but need to satisfy a regulation that stipulates you store your piece within one. I would be such a buyer if I had that law hanging over me; I live alone and live so rural that we don't get burglars so I have no need for an actual gun safe.

@LockPickingLawyer, big fan here! I've learned all about the vulnerabilities of locks and products I've owned for years, without ever realizing just how pointless some of them are/were. Suffice it to say, you've already saved me a bunch of money, based on at least two products that have either been returned (Brinks Disc Lock that I learned could easily be twisted open, and a Harbor Freight / Union "Gun Safe" that someone else showed no less than eight vulnerabilities in existence, as well as the fact that it had been recalled. It's still in the box, but going back to Harbor Freight in the morning. It looks very suspiciously like a version of this gun safe you reviewed here) or will be soon. I just enjoyed watching your homemade gun lock solution using the Abus padlock and a drill bit but, like many others who have commented on your various gun safe reviews, I'd be very interested in knowing whether there is a particular gun safe that you DO find to be competent in protecting firearms from easy access by kids/unauthorized guests? I've learned from you that one of the most effective "fixes" for many locks is to replace the core with more resilient cores, and that most gun safes seem to be plagued with cheap bypass cores. That said, is there a gun safe you would suggest as a good starting point for the best safety? I am prepared to add additional shields to vulnerable buttons/mechanisms (have welder, will travel, lol!) and to replace vulnerable cores, but would love to start with a design that you would put a "conditional" stamp of approval on. I believe that I speak for a great many of your fans when I say we'd definitely appreciate your addressing this question if you haven't already and, if you have, would you please direct me to that video? Searching your channel didn't bring me the answers I hoped to find. Keep the great and entertaining reviews coming, and "thanks" in advance!!! ;-)
