i like jared on this, very human. which is one critic i have to make about the songs. this is war was the last piece of art of theirs where i can feel natural music making, they were driven by something right there which i just couldnt feel for the next 2 albums. I see songs that have been put so much work into that they have become overproduced, almost stripped away of any humanity, its too compressed, too artificial, even jareds voice is not human, its all effects man.. this not a failure of course, its an aesthetic choice, but idk it just makes me miss the old days. i know jareds voice is not what it used to be but thats no reason to hide it. as to America, it has some songs i find interesting but it seems like jareds digging into lyrics that have worked before instead of exploring new worlds, you can see a "motif" with the repetition of words and expressions throughout a 14 years period. here is the thing. whenever i hear jared on interviews i feel like 'cool dude, very thoughtful, insightful, thinks about other people and all, a simple fella. but then i listen to the songs and i cant quite capture the same essence, i feel like the songs were manufactured to fit in in today's scenario (understandably so). hard dude to pin down.
