Ok, so in the original game, 98xx, Talking Gerald was revealed to be the spirit of a man who had been involved in a car crash while intoxicated, killing 2 people, a mother and a daughter. (Presumably Dancing Darcy is the mother, but I'm unsure.) He was actually bailed out by one of the evil corporations involved in this series and presumably shoved into the game. These games are pretty intense!

Infact, I think both of the designs fit, 98xx juilan had the right amount of uncannyness while still not being nightmare fuel, and had a pretty more accurate voice, and new juilan still has that charm while looking more kid friendly and slightly more accurate.
