This is even explained in the reminder text of Reconnaissance

Thank you, ive been trying to explain this concept for ages. I had a judge called on me for doing something like this the other week (He swung with his hero at end step after letting him decline the sac trigger I flashed in nowhere to run killing it) and the judge ruled in my favor. The guy after the round kept saying if i knew that was possible I wouldve used my monstrous rage on you

The amount of times Ive had the judge called on me because I try to explain those two rulings is insane

@@ryanlong8179 that’s what I’m here for 🙌🏻. Just finished the gruul deck that won in Atlanta today on arena. Reached out to the winner to see if I can get an interview and share his thoughts on matchups and sideboarding. If this seems like something you would be interested in I’ll have at least some arena gameplay up tomorrow and fingers crossed about the interview.

What a great way for people to accidentally click on your video than by making them think they’re clicking on tolarian community college. Props on the strategy. I wouldn’t say props on the name. Feels like you’re trying to get the trickle of viewers or accidental clicks.

Nah. I just wanted a channel that focused on more competitive magic than causal edh. Thought it was a funny idea. Also the professor doesn’t own tolaria, it’s mtg lore. He makes great content but not content for the audience im after.
@TolarianUniversity2 күн бұрын
Also this is probably the worst thing I could do strategically. I’m never going to rank in search results over him. We don’t make the same type of content. I hope the video wasn’t a waste of your time and the quality of the video didn’t disappoint.

Really like the content, I think it's an interesting perspective but I'm not a fan of the channel branding. I understand tolaria is part of the MTG lore but I think you should start something with your own brand

I honestly didn’t think people read usernames, just look at titles and thumbnails. Definitely doesn’t help my search results but I chose tolaria because it’s the one place in mtg lore that was an educational space. Probably same thought process he went through for community college. Also that era holds a special place in my heart due to where it was in my childhood and I was super into magic then. I understand some people may be bummed about my choice but others may find it funny. It’s also a good way of establishing what type of content I’m making compared to the content he makes, which is geared more towards causal magic player. My thumbnails look nothing like his and I don’t make the types of videos he does. Hopefully that’s enough of a separation for most people. Also I took the time to make this as immersive as possible with the background as well as my intro. The sound effects are ocean themed etc. I honestly dont watch his channel because I dont play edh but there’s nothing I’ve seen of his that would place him in tolaria other than dressing like a college professor. No shade to him and I hope he is massively successful but I can’t let him just own tolaria due to his success. Thanks for you kind words about the content and the time you spent sharing your opinion.

Tolaria is mtg lore. I’ve been playing since ice age and it holds a special place in my childhood. He doesn’t own it. I hope the video was informational though. I’m only making more competitive content. I don’t do the side of magic he does. I thought the username was a unique was of explaining the difference. No shade to the professor but he makes mtg videos for casual Magic players and things like the booster box game. You won’t see any of that here but I might make a few funny videos.

Tolaria is mtg lore. I can’t steal something from someone that they don’t own. I’ve been playing since ice age and I chose my favorite but understand your frustration. Hopefully the quality of my video wasn’t a waste of your time.

If I get enough complaints I’ll make a video explaining why I chose tolaria and how stupid it was because I’ll never show up in search results over him. I didn’t do it to trick anyone. I did it for several reasons and one day hope to maybe even collaborate and be able to send an audience his was for videos that he makes and I don’t, like booster box game, equipment reviews, and stuff that he makes. Hopefully one day if people in his audience wants to know how to prepare for an RCQ or RC he can send them my way. I’ll never steal his video ideas or try and duplicate his content.
