I slid two pennies in them positive to positive , negative to negative on a fully charged Makita battery and jumpstarted my car it took two bars off , what a great hack !

20v batteries ARE 18v batteries. 20v max = 18v nominal.

I haven't seen it either. Perhaps from a small prototype run that made it to distribution for sale? What model are you picturing here, OP? I have I think 8 lxt 18 volt batteries in 3.0, 4.0, and 5.0, no battery indicators like you've shown here.
