Biggest tip I have is take a well stocked cooler along each day to maximize your time. Get an earliest start to see animals then eat your color breakfast & Make lunch sandwiches at views quickly and skip the long lines lunch. Interesting you highlighted Canyon village. That was by far our most frustrating area and one I’d tell anyone to avoid. A manager told us that the food options there were rather dismal! That was 2 years ago though but it looked of dated 1970 unlike the charm of the rest of the park.

Great tip! Our son has food allergies and we always pack food with us rather than risk a reaction. Canyon Village, including the lodges and food service, had recent renovations. The dining area has more of a retro feel with lots of food options. We didn't eat there but it it was packed.

I am 60 years old and have been driving for 45 years and you could always down shifts on automatics as long as I have been driving. May people don’t know that they because they want to put it in drive and do nothing else. We have traveled the same roads you have and our 2011 Jayco Greyhawk did not have any problems on those roads.

We should have checked in with you before our trip! 😊. We never encountered such mountainous terrain here on the east coast and were taken completely by surprise when we hit Big Horn. Life is full of lessons learned. It's kind of funny though...John and I have driven mostly manuals our entire lives...guess the automatic threw us off. Thanks for sharing. Safe travels!

Hey...where still adding things to our list 🤣 We were so nervous about gas 😬. Filled up at every gas station we saw in Wyoming. These rigs burn so much fuel and at 6-8 miles per gallon you can't take any changes.

Hi there! It was 31 hours and 2054 miles one way according to GPS. We left on June 13th and arrived at Fishing Bridge on the 18th. Stayed a week at Yellowstone then headed to Grand Teton and stopped to Arches for a day on the way home,. Arrived home on July 5th. We crammed a lot into one trip!

Greetings Earth Roamers! I wish you would have included a Google Map snapshot of the route you took for some context. And a little more clear on what gate you went through to get into Yellowstone and what loops you did and how you did them etc. We did not have a good experience so it would be interesting to see how you tackled it. Disclaimer: The contents of my comment are the opinions of BrianAz and should not be taken as professional advice. OK, here goes starting with my soapbox rant: First, Bear spray is what you use to add some spices in the air for flavor as the Bear eats you, just sayin'! If you are being attacked by a Bear, being charged, that spray will do nothing (some inside information/story I got from a game warden one time). I only bring this up to drive home the caution in thinking this spray is some kind of miracle agent that will save you in all circumstances. I am just saying to not get a false sense of security having it, and I am NOT saying to not have it with you! Just understand that if you spook a Bear or for some reason you are being charged by a Bear, you will be freaking out so bad you will be lucky to get it out and correctly operate it before... well, you know. There are plenty of good videos out there on how to avoid Bears which is just as important. A lot of information like you said about being noisy and in bigger groups. The Bison have are still historically the most dangerous animals there because of their numbers and how people STILL think they can approach them! ...end rant here... TRAFFIC: We went in July and Yellowstone was just not so enjoyable for us. Beautiful? Yes! Should you see it at least once in your life? Yes! But, even though we were warned and warned again about the traffic, but warning or not the constant traffic, especially on the south loop, was soooo bad that it took all the fun out of it. It was beyond frustrating to the point of ridiculous! The construction delays made my blood boil except for my wife encouraging me to look around because it is still beautiful country. TRAFFIC: And then the stoppage for animals is a hit or miss as well. If you are at the back of the traffic stopped for animals, by the time you get moving again there is either nothing left to see or its moved off and not as enjoyable. We did not stay for a week to see more of the park which may have helped me chill out about the never ending stop and go, which may have helped me chill out more and dealt with the traffic. Just a huge warning to anyone going that you WILL have traffic and that is part of seeing Yellowstone. We bailed out of Yellowstone early as we just did not find it worth the traffic issues. We saw Elk, Deer, Bison, and even a big Brown Bear. It was all the humans that made us run for our lives! GET THERE REALLY EARLY: It is always a toss up on when and where the animal will be moving around, but if you get started you might miss the crazy traffic and see a lot of the park and then you can come back the next day and revisit areas you enjoyed more. One of the interesting issues we had was the angle of the sun when we made an early visit to the popular Grand Prismatic Spring. It was filling up fast but we found a parking spot and were excited yet the sun was hitting the rising steam at just the right angle that we could barley see the blue-green color of the spring. Not a giant issue, just a weird thing that happened to us. Either way, if you are there for a week are even several days, you may want to plan your first stop on each day at one of your favorite or popular spots so you can get a parking spot without having to circle forever and get frustrated. OLD FAITHFUL: Like Sherri and John said, its not a very high spouting geyser. There are tons of parking spaces but there are limited bench seating if you are there early to wait. You can see them on Google Earth, seems like plenty but they do fill up as the time gets closer and everyone gets their spots to get their cameras ready. Its more stream than water rising up so just expect that. You still have to see it as you cannot go to Yellowstone and not see Old Faithful. GRAND TETON NATIONAL PARK: We headed home via Grand Teton National Park and just loved that place. We really did not have a plan on the "how" to see the Teton's so I don't have a lot of ideas for anyone. We saw very few animals but the drive down Interstate 191 to the Teton Park Road driving past and stopping at some of the lakes, especially Jenny Lake, all the way to Moose and onto Jackson Wyoming was amazing. The Tetons are just so amazing, and it was like looking at a postcard. You must see the Teton's as part of your trip. Just know that the Teton Park road is CLOSED from November to May so plan accordingly. That is MY story and I am sticking to it! I know there are so many people who have gone there and just love it so much. Research the park as much as you can via KZbin, now about the two loops and plan as much as you can and stay long enough to not be like me and get worked up over the traffic. The construction traffic never stops. They only have enough time to do portions of the road work every year within a window of time before winter arrives again and by the time they finish the loops, they have to fix the roads again from runoff or they have a bridge to work on as well. I don't mean to be a downer, you may love it and think I am nuts or maybe I just hit it at a bad time. Safe travels! I hope that "Serene" is acting serene for you guys on the road. Sure would be nice if everything went right all the time!

Hi Brian...good point about the route. We mentioned it in our previous videos but should also have mention it with this one. I'll add it in the description and put a link in the vid to our Yellowstone playlist. We came into Yellowstone via the southeast gate. Took 90 most of the way then rt14 through Big Horn. While on a hike in Grand Teton a black bear decided to join us. Unfortunately, other hikers decided to run and left John standing between us and the bear. When the bear approached he used the bear spray and it worked. The bear cut off the trail and trotted off. Now, if there was a cub involved I'm not sure how well the spray would have worked. Timing is important in Yellowstone. We went mid June but I hear the end of June through August can be nightmarish with the crowds of people. Our days started at first light which made it easier to hike, and view wildlife and geysers. Most of the time we were leaving areas as people were arriving. You've listed great tips and we appreciate the time it took to share with everyone. I wish you would have had a better time at Yellowstone. We'll look into doing another vid that talks about the loops and perhaps answers some more of your questions. Like you, my son enjoyed the Grand Tetons more. But I'm a big fan of Yellowstone and can't wait to get back. Safe travels!

It's not their fault. The poor road conditions in Colorado are due to climate change. We stayed in Fishing Bridge in 1998. Wow, it's changed a lot. Thanks for sharing these tips.

Ok...at first I thought you made it up but after some research I found tons of articles blaming the condition of Colorado roads on climate change...who knew 🤯. We stayed in the renovated loop at fishing bridge. Some of the other loops are the same. We hope to have a video on it within the next few weeks.
