I had a career of producing television programs, specials, movies and special events. I had the great pleasure of following a family of three grizzly bears for seven months, from the time they exited the den until they disappeared up the mountains to den up again. I witnessed incredible strength along with caring tenderness.

You reminded me of an experience with black bears, at Hidden Lake Campground, in Alaska. We had just finished air frying some halibut and not 15 minutes later 2 black bears showed up. I was so happy we were the only ones on that campsite level. On more normal days, there would be kids biking around, people out in tents and just out. I guess you just have to be prepared. What scared me was the number of children running, and biking around, not paying the slightest attention. We had many bears go through camp, including a mom with cubs. Never let your guard down. I wore bear spray all day, and finally took it off, as we were on our way back to the trailer, after a long day. The sun had set, fog had rolled in, and I just had to take a few shots of the scenery in foggy low light. I took the pictures and got back in to the truck. My husband said to me, "Is that a bear behind us?" Yes it was, not 15' away.

My Great Uncle owned IP Bills Island in Island Park . We had an OG cabin on the lake growing up . Friday nights we woul go into West Yellowstone and watch the grizzlies rummage through the dump. The cowboys would come off the ranches and get drunk , taught the bears and run back into their trucks. Hunted , fished, floated , hiked , skied most of that tri state corner. Did many winter trips into the park on skis and “snow machines” In the 60’s. Last visited 2004 . We never had issues with bears as there just wasn’t that many people . Moose , that’s a whole different story. Happy trails, thanks for the trip back in time.

I NEVER get tired of seeing Yellowstone, even virtually 😊 I'd been there more than a dozen times with family and it NEVER gets old to me! What a treat to see a grizzly. I remember one time my oldest brother strongly felt the need to go as close as possible to a grizzly and then when he and the bear locked eyes my oldest sist and I began to pray (I actually started to cry!) and all of a sudden, the bear stopped and began to walk in the other direction. True story and miracle! The bear was less than 50 ft. from our brother! He has NEVER gotten that close to a wild animal since! Plus, when we got home, we told mom and dad and they ripped him a new one, so that played a role I'm sure 😊 Thanks for sharing. I think I need to visit Yellowstone and Glacier Park soon again.

We can’t afford to keep it and live on the road so we tried to sell it for two years but I guess we have to stay out because we didn’t get any interest, especially after we dropped the price. Hey Pal Joey !!! ~ Congrats Cat. You did it ! Also, wanted to let you know 2 days ago David Paulides Can Am Missing Project entitled: "A Wife and Mother Disappears from a Rural Wisconsin..." from 4:00 David shows an Air Horn (described as an Emergency Horn) he picked up at an ID S&R store. Some say it could scare a bear off. And Jeff Nadolny's one time fairly frequent guest Gov't Agt Victor also recommended the Air Horn for bear and whatever elso. (Anyone who watches Jeff's channel knows) Victor also said the only really effective bear spray is the very expensive 100 dollar a can spray (price might be a bit higher now?) But the air horn might be a good not terribly costly investment just in case, plus it's light enough to stick somewhere handy. Happy adventuring. Cheers !
