Here's the deal - driving t-posts for fencing is AWFUL. So, let's let the tractor do it, and let's not spend like $4k. We're making a tractor mounted tee post pounder on the cheap!
if you've ever built a fence, you know that driving t-posts by hand is not fun. hydraulic post drivers are expensive. pneumatic post drivers are terrifying. And cheap tractor mounted t-post drivers are often damaging to your loader frame. There's gotta be a better way!
Here's a decent post pounder:

I have thought about ways to attempt this, all were more complex than what you cam up with. I was concerned the loader wouldn't have the force to get it done. Thanks for sharing.

I was just talking to a guy who got whacked in the face with one of those air-powered hand-held ones. Those suckers are dangerous! Fence building isn't for the faint of heart!

loves this!!! I hate t-posts even in the sand I have. I am going to strap the pounder the bucket and push em in from now on. An buddy you need to get at least a pellet grill :)

I'm fixing to put in a whole mess of fence this year, so we'll see how it goes. I had some trouble dialing-in the correct length of chain to keep the pounder from not flipping over while also self-centering. For the record, we have a really great charcoal grill/smoker, but I never seem to have enough time to commit to it. I guess I like propane better than pellets because I feel like both are cheating, but propane is cheating ALL THE WAY.

@@HomesteadBandwagon sound like you got you work cut out for you on driving posts. I am using a bucket so I am going to figure something out as just trying to use the bucket doesn't work, they slide off everytime. And I get you on the full on cheat, going to go about something go about it all the way :)

Do you think this would work with a grapple attachment? Forks are on my long list of attachments but in the meantime gotta make due with what I got.

Thats a great question. I should be putting on the grapple this weekend, so I'll give it a shot. There's gotta be some way to do it.

Ive put In a stupid amount of t posts with just a skid. Take the bucket off and where the quick attach is I put the t post in there and down it goes. If it wants to bend Its easy to adapt to that with a skid. I'm not as savvy with our tractor but I'd imagine it would be just as easy.

I tried just using the bucket and QA plate, but I kept bending the heck outta the posts. For whatever reason, using the pounder keeps em in line!

The gas one may work a little faster, but this way is much more fun. Although, i have bent a few t-posts while perfecting my art

I'm trying to find the manufacturer so I can post a link. Found it buried in a box at the tractor shop I work at. It had a yellow label, but the text was gone!

Complicated overkill. I’ve pushed a lot of them in with the bottom of the bucket. Those look like they push easy.
@HomesteadBandwagon

That's not as fun. Also, I bent a ton of T-posts doing it that way. For whatever reason, using the pounder keeps them a little more level and a little less bent.

For sure! But to be fair, using a post pounder by hand ain't gonna be any easier if you're dealing with rocky ground!

Using the backing plate does OK, but the pounder contains the post, so it's way easier to control and it self-levels (kinda)

No such thing. I own 80+ acres I don't raise animals and i don't hunt , its just forest. , if you do nothing to your property animals will still be slaughtered. It's called nature, which is by far, more cruel than most any humans. You want to mow a little clearing ,your going to be killing a huge amount wildlife. People who live in the city's believe in this fairytale, they watch the sanitized TV nature shows, that basically show all the animals holding hands (paws) and singing songs trembling at the sight of man. Watch a few unedited videos, watch animals eat one another while still alive. Most farm animals live a far better life than there wild brothers.

You need to buy 2 turnbuckles to tighten the chains. You could also use 1 long chain, 2 grab hooks and 1 turnbuckle.
