You know how much we love driving fence posts around here, and we may have just stumbled upon the cheapest way to drive t-post fence.

I use a bosh rotary demo hammer with a modified ground rod driver (there is not a commercially available t-post attachment, which is nuts). If your working in rock, you can pre drill a hole with the demo hammer, then drive the post right it. Sinks a post 18” in seconds.

I spent one day working for a wily old hillbilly electrician. He had to run an 8' grounding rod into the soil until only 10" or so was left showing. You don't have to dig far around here to find solid granite, and I wasn't sure how he planned to make this all work. He put a ground rod driver attachment on his jackhammer, inserted the grounding rod into the attachment, locked the power trigger on and stood the ground rod upright with the drill balanced on it, 8' in the air over his head. He plugged the jackhammer in, and I watched in astonishment as the ground rod slowly disappeared into the soil. Didn't take more than a couple minutes.

I just sunk close to a thousand on a DeWalt cordless fencing stapler , the staples, batteries and charger to erect 300' of 8' deer fencing. Just because I refuse to hand bang that many staples and because of my big fingers I would drop more staples on the ground than I would pound in. As for the T posts I only have 30 of those to put in right now but as I plant more trees I will need to erect more deer guards around them. Each of which requires two T posts. When I saw the price of the that post driver that you discarded at the beginning of the video I balked at the $90 price tag. I'm beginning to think differently. Thanks for the information and entertainment

Gentlemens, thanks for the honest review. For most of us we are not needing variety or speed. The electrical jackhammer is a far more affordable option for my Bob-Whar fences. Showing that it is a viable option was most enlightening. (I am posting a serious and sincere thanks… just this once! LoL)

I used a Hilti electric jackhammer and a Honda generator to drive survey posts into the ground. I also used a spade on it to break ground in the winter. It was a game changer in the 1900's.

I've pounded miles of t post manually, with 80 plus year old men. Repairing 100 year old fence in northwest Colorado. Long handle pliers and a hammer. The old way is more conducive to contemplation, and actually being a useful man when you're 80.

I cheat these days, since I now have a tractor, I stick the T post in the ground enough that it stands up straight and then use my bucket bracket that’s flat heavy metal and use the hydraulics to drive the T post in the ground. Long as you got room for your tractor to get to your T post. It’s hard to beat and you can easily drive the T post in the hardest ground just short of solid rock. It’s my favorite way to drive T post these days! 😂

Make an adapter for the Rhino, so that it does not have to go over the end of the post (too high for comfort). The adapter could be just like the cast iron bracket that the rotohammer needs. Then the Rhino could work by two methods.

Love the post lifter. I had to pound ground rods and remove them on a site, years ago to identify where the ledge was. I used a hi-lift jack and two pairs of vise grips. Man, that was SLOW! Do any of you post pounders have an adapter for ground rods?

@@SWiFence Good video. The connector on the rod is called an acorn and the one for the fence is a split bolt. I’ve rented heavy duty hammer drills that can hammer without spinning. They work well with a cup bit, but they are expensive.

Hi guys. I have a regular jackhammer I use for breaking concrete. Fairly big one with a pointy tip. Will that work with that adaptor or will the jackhammer need a special round tip to fit in the adapter. I used a rhino style tee post driver in the past but it was very hard to balance, especially if a little guy was operating it. They didn’t like that at all. (Same thing with gas augers. They hand dig whenever possible I’ve noticed). Also have you done a comparison video between the post puller you were using in the video and a high lift jack? Thanks

I love that you're active and up for this! To be honest, it's truly impossible to say--everyone is in a different condition. The hammer drill weighs a bit, I imagine it could start to feel pretty heavy pretty quickly if you're not regularly working outdoors already. But if you're someone who is already stacking hay bales I imagine you'd be fine.
