FYI. Sound doubles every 3dB. so 10-15dB open v closed is hugh! Also, SPL's should be measured at 1metre from the source. But a very good review of exhausts on the 992GT3, thanks.
@mufflertech2 жыл бұрын
We can try 1 meter next time. I figured we’re doing the measurements from the same distance so the changed results are consistent. It’s about the measured difference’s not the beginning and ending numbers. If your suggestion is more of an industry standard, and it sounds as though it is, I’m happy to do it next time😎
@911aircooled52 жыл бұрын
@@mufflertech Thanks for your reply. Yes 1m is industry standard. You won't need an X on the floor then, and car in the exact same position, 1m is 1m! But if you wanted to go the next level, you'd do it in a sound booth. Bit over the top for this though. Atleast at 1m you can compare all cars that you fit. Still a great job. My 992GT3 arrives in a few weeks so found it useful.

@@rdrrua Agreed , I like IPE its also up there for me. I think the 991 is better sounding no matter what , 992 also has the GPF . Even the US cars have a dummy GPF, so unless you get around that and change link pipes it’s never gonna compete with 991 sound.

Nice Video, the dark grey has no valves right? did you have to buy the valve deletion kit from JCR? where it goes installed?
@mufflertech2 жыл бұрын
Yes, the grey car has no valve’s. The JCR system comes with all the necessary parts to complete the install. The valve deletes mount behind the bumper on the air box mounts.
@tech2uned2 жыл бұрын
Enjoyed the video. Porsche realized how much the exhaust is changed with so many possible configurations that they designed the 992 where you don't need to remove the bumper anymore?

We remove one of the header assemblies instead. We’re not afraid to remove the bumper, but the header removal save’s time.

I’m planning on doing an Akrapovic video as soon as we have the opportunity. The Akra as a slip in would be considerably quieter as it uses a full muffler.

Does the new 992 GT3 have a rev limiter while in park/neutral? I prefer the look and sound of the previous 991.2

@markbauwens80332 жыл бұрын
All 911's are tail heavy by definition. How much did the OE stock exhausts weight on the white and dark grey car? How much did the JCR exhaust weight on the white car with valves and the dark grey car without? Less weight improves handling!
@mufflertech2 жыл бұрын
Regrettably I didn’t weigh them. I’d guess at least 25-30 pounds less for the JCR.
@markbauwens80332 жыл бұрын
Arguably, the benefit of an alternative muffler, especially in a 911, is less weight, more BHP and your film did not highlight the gains! I don't want to attract attention in my 992 GT3K so more noise is a negative but tolerable for less weight and more BHP.
@rdrrua Жыл бұрын
thanks for this good explainer. have you tried any other exhausts on GT3? I am looking for something high pitched, not bassy. akrapovic comes out very low frequency and bassy exhaust. this jcr is better but still not as good as 991 gt3 sounded with their exhaust IMHO. so far - Valvetronic Designs, iPE, Dundon, Fabspeed - sound more high pitchy to me
@mufflertech Жыл бұрын
Don’t be fooled that the exhaust can change the result of the engine dramatically. You cannot make Madonna sound like James Hetfield with different equalizers or amplifiers. Exhaust systems can have some impact, but not that much.
@rdrrua Жыл бұрын
@@mufflertech I'd disagree - there is such a dramatic difference between some of the exhausts. Just hear this one out kzbin.info/www/bejne/Y3XYeYSHja6SgLc

I feel like when the car stop, there is pretty big different in sound between stock and JCR (also the same with other exhaust brand), but when the car runs in high rpm, why I feel like stock vs aftermarket brand are the same. If there is a difference, only a bit. This is personal oppinion. Please correct me if I am wrong. Btw I just bought 992 gt3 and consider to upgrade exhaust system.
@mufflertech2 жыл бұрын
Sound is subjective, so no opinion is wrong. I would say before making a decision that you should hear them in person. I assure you (at least by my opinion and I do a lot of exhaust) it is louder at every RPM with a higher pitch.

@@mufflertech hear them in person is the right thing to do Sir. Yes I believe it must be different in sound. Thank you for your advice.
@brad74252 жыл бұрын
@@mufflertech may I ask your personal opinion, what would you choose for exhaust system for 992 gt3? Akrapovic, JCR or Dundon.
@mufflertech2 жыл бұрын
@@brad7425 good question. It depends on your goal. Dundon is the only company offering anything in Inconel, so if you’re after the absolute best material they are a great choice. The Akrapovic is like automotive jewelry, it’s the most finished product we sell hands down, they also use a full muffler, so they’re the most conservative in volume. JCR is probably my choice for a number of different reasons, great sound, amazing support, and relatively quick availability. They’ve also been doing 992 stuff the longest.
@brad74252 жыл бұрын
@@mufflertech thank you for your detailed information. Here in Asia, not many GT3 use these brands, so I have to ask expert or people with more experience through online. I get your point here, they are all have benefit, but for some reasons JCR would be the one. I will put this as a reference👍

Can we get rid of the OPF?
@mufflertech2 жыл бұрын
Legally no. Depending on where you live an emissions test would fail if they weren’t on the car. In California cars don’t require a smog until they are 5 years old for renewal. Transfer requires a smog test. We just added Dundon Motorsports to our line up and they have a complete system header to tailpipe that deletes the GPF/OPF.
